At the conclusion of the War of the Six Houses, the griffins declared the area theirs, placing themselves strategically in the center of the continent and therefore becoming the main trading hub between the different participating houses. This led to a booming economy which allowed them to flourish and reach a seat of power that made them hard to dethrone. That and politically arranged marriages between griffin royalty and minor houses also kept them in good standings with their neighbors.

A few things distinguish the actual location of Prousena from the other cities within the Mesas. Prousena sits on the largest mesa, and its placement along the phoenix territory gives it a far hotter temperature. Scientists believe that this added heat causes Prousena's red clay the glimmering and golden effect it will sometimes take on.
