Oda really wore his cartoon and fantasy influence on his sleeve in this arc. The dialogue with the cannonballs is a 1:1 with the scene with the talking bullets from Who Framed Roger Rabbit? And the exchange with ‘gum-gum no branch’ a blatant reference to the infamous ‘rabbit season! Duck season!’ Bit from looney tunes. Plus the yellow brick road from the seducing woods (which themselves are very Brothers Grimm) all the Disney musicals, etc etc. Pretty cool to see

Yo how the fuck is Oven sticking both hands into the sea and using his power to heat it up???? Shouldn't be lose his powers??? I just caught that watching this reaction

Nah, they need to have their full body in the water to lose their powers. We've seen Luffy fight with his hands in the water out of the bubbles in Fishman Island and he was only weakened. And then there's San Juan Wolf who can walk through the sea because he's big enough that his head stays out of the water.

Also I’m pretty sure they don’t lose they’re powers, they just become weakened.. Luffy needed his neck to be stretched so that his head would be out of the water so he could breathe(when he fought Arlong).. and it also depends on how much of your body is underwater.. just having your hands in it shouldn’t be a big deal
