I am gonna keep my hype low, and keep in mind that this is a live adaptation, key word being adaptation :) so they are not gonna do like the anime did for the manga. This will be a different way to tell the "same" story.

I hope they stop with the live action anime crap soon. You don't need anything more than this trailer to know it's just plain bad. They always have bad acting because the good ones aren't desperate enough to have to do this. Maybe that's a bit harsh idk, but no one can tell me that this doesn't look awful for real.

To keep expectations low is the right thing to do in my opinion, but this does not look awful if you compare it to other live action adaptations. I feel like that is arguing in bad faith. I dont mind that there is no Keanu in this show, all thats important is that the actors love the source material and live their roles, being no hollywood star does not equal bad acting. One Piece is probably one of the hardest adaptations you could ever attempt because of their goofy world, character and power design.. but I love this show and I am following it since 15 years. If I have a chance to get more One Piece, I choose more One Piece. Someone has to start and try, and I feel like they put the money and effort in it to make it atleast a worthwhile attempt.

I want them to stop making live action adaptions of anime because it clearly doesn't work in this format. And like I said the acting is always really bad. "true one piece fans" man that's a load of crap.

Netflix live actions have a history of being terrible so I don't expect a lot, but I'll reserve harsher judgement until I actually watch it. I like that the effects look better than I expected (the sea king looked pretty cool), and I appreciate that they're trying to stay a bit more true to the characters' looks from the series. That's more than can be said for others, but it still needs some work. There are ways to make the characters look right without it looking like cheap cosplay. Sanji needs his twirly eyebrows (theyre important to his character), Usopp without his long nose, and Luffy not in sandals? I know they put him in shoes so the actor could do more of his own stunts safely, but they could've figured something out with his shoes I feel. The Zoro bit was pretty cool. But I didn't really feel that the actors embodied their characters yet from this trailer. And having Luffy saying something like he "senses tension amongst the crew" or whatever lol that's not something Luffy would say IMO, especially not East Blue saga Luffy. I just really wanted to get the "feel" and humor of One Piece here, and I personally didn't. But I'm still going to give it a chance anyways. I'm not getting my hopes up, and if it's better than expected then it'll be a nice surprise for sure. I don't expect it to be perfect but it's the small details that can make it better.

I agree, it is the little details that count...though I am very skeptical of Live Action adaptations of any anime series, anime has its own charm that is so difficult to replicate in live action, especially for a show with weird proportions as Heatah rightly pointed out. Also, the voice acting adds so much depth and soul to the characters, that when they are performed in real life, they become someone entirely different!

On another note, are you planning to continue Hell's Paradise (HP) Heatah and Hus? Both HP and Vinland will be wrapping up soon, so it would be nice to finish these off your plates (unless you aren't enjoying them), now that Demon Slayer is over. Though I will say that you also haven't finished Jojo's last part, and if that is something you will be doing in the future as well (since Jojo's is one of the big 3s on your channel with HxH, Yu Yu, and Full Metal Alchemist)...just a thought, cheers!

Thank you, someone who can reply with something not superfluous lol I had commented previously but it's gone for some reason so wanted to repost. I agree with you for sure, it's very difficult to capture an anime in live action which is why they're usually not very good IMO, but I'm giving some leeway for the fact voice acting is different from live action. I'm hoping the actors will really get into their roles and bring out the qualities of the characters we love in the show itself, since I didn't really feel it in the trailer yet.

All I hear is negative shit in these comments when the show hasn't even came out. Let the show come out first before making judgment I wish they never did a trailer im tired of hearing complaining. I am watching it no matter what just because ODA was behind it so its already 10/10 in my eyes unless its so awful when it comes out.

I'm hoping for good, but prepared for the worst. I love how Heat was devastated by the nose and then when he saw that there was no twirly eyebrow, that was the final nail, the last straw(hat). Nearly choked on my food when you said Danny DeVito for Blackbeard. I'll have to see it, but I wanna believe it's good.

The purpose of a trailer is to lead people into making a judgement on the media. The judgement that is hoped for vs the actual reaction can be quite different. They say once bitten, twice shy. We've been bitten way more than once on these things. Anime and video game live action adaptations are notoriously bad in the US as well as Japan. Naturally there are those who are looking at this extremely close to judge if this is going to be yet another flop, and yet another flop on Netflix. We also have those who are so jaded and quick to disbelieve and disparage everything so that way they can prove that they are the smartest because they were never "tricked" into thinking something was real/good. But those people pop up all the time.

Whitebeard is gonna have to be one of the worlds strongest men IRL cosplaying tbh lmao. Or we just do the racial swap thing and it's Shaq or The rock for height/size LOL. I have the same kinda opinions as ya'll. To add one, Luffy saying he's sensing tension amongst the crew felt off bc he don't be that guy lol. But we shall seeeee.
