"What do you take your friends for?" Nakama. That line should be "What do you take your nakama for?" This is the One Piece translation dilemma: whenever Luffy says the word "nakama", it means a lot more than just "friend". If it was supposed to be "friend", Luffy would've said "tomodachi". You can think of nakama like "brother/sister from another mother"; Someone you'd put your life on the line for to save, and someone that you trust with your life; A partner in crime, etc.
