Itsuki is actually Togashi's favorite character in Yu Yu Hakusho and he definitely has some of the best lines. Like the line about training a boy to be a killer and then hunting him down for being one as a man.

So the way Sensui originally describes the sacred energy is that the user cant just train for 40 years but they also have to have the innate desire to fix the world around them. Then he goes on to explain how Genkai found she doesn't have that. If you think about it Sensui saw flaws with how the world was functioning and was obsessed with correcting it, where as Genkai really didnt give a damn about good and evil. Lol she didnt even save Kuwa when he was getting destroyed by Rando. She was pretty much like "that sucks, well Rando will def know how to use my techniques better than I ever could".

I can understand Genkai's opinion on that. For her entire life she dedicated herself to physical and spiritual development and she achieved something amazing by creating the Spirit Wave. It'd be stupid to let something like that die with her and choosing someone who can make the power evolve was natural. The desire to do good or evil with it wasn't part of the equation.
