Animation was straight fire for this episode. That 90s animation can't be slept on. Like trigun and cowboy Bebop

This show had alot of different animators with sometimes certain ones getting to direct episodes. The manga looked like it had tons of styles depending on the feel of the scene like goofy dark ect. So they did the same with the anime. Like this episode the director has this uniqe style with hard dark shadows and black levels with alot of exaggerated faces and movement. Same when hiei had his darkness dragon episodes it was a certain director. Then you have one director who does some of the calmer melancholy episodes like the one after the tournamnet when everyone thinks they are leaving genkai.

Demons are forbidden from killing humans, as Botan mentioned when Hiei was beating the crap out of Tarukane. Though I am not certain if a Spirit Detective has the same legal limitations. It's a funny question, though. The heroes are allowed to kill demons, even when they're of a far lesser threat than Doctor, who is right out of a horror movie. Seriously, this dude is a real ass slasher villain. But being human automatically gives him special protection that he really does not deserve.
