Introducing Clark the Da'nai!

In the Gateworld, there's only one language known as Delingo. It's part magic and every Humie who arrives in the Gateworld automatically speaks it without knowing they do. If your native language was German, everyone would sound like they're speaking German to you and you'd still think you were speaking German to everyone else.

There are however 5 different dialects of Delingo, each for the 5 Clades of Races; Silvatica, Spiritia, Daeblus, Meeri and Exanima. Every dialect is generally mutually intelligible to the others with some exceptions. Spiritia (Elves, Florakin and Fae) have a generally hard time understanding Silvatica (Beastfolk and Greenskins) who in turn have a hard time understanding Daeblus (Demons) who can't quite pick up the subtleties of Spiritia. Exanima (Undead and Constructs) are understandable by all, but there's a edge to it that most living Kindred find unnerving. And while Meeri (Merfolk) can understand the other Clades fairly well, their own dialect is just barely comprehensible because it's full of high-pitched sounds and guttural noises.

"Da'nai" is a word that in Spiritian Delingo translates to "Us, the People," and carries a similar vibe whenever two Spiritia Kindred speak to each other. When Da'nai speak to each other, the word automatically conveys a feeling of familiarity and brotherhood, like you know the person you're talking to is trustworthy.

Conversely, "Da'nai" has a completely different feeling to Demons and Beastfolk who hear it and feel the meanings "Not you" and "Other Kindred" respectively. Demons are usually put off by it entirely because to them, the feeling of "Us, the People" is still felt underneath the feeling of "Not you," combined it creates an insulting feeling as if the speaker is saying "I am of a People and you are Not."

Needless to say, Demons and Da'nai have a long history of animosity between each other.

I'm hoping I didn't miss anything, but the comic seems to jump from Page 2 to Page 4 for me.

Ah, good catch there. That's my fault, the file names are numbered from the cover page which means that I've misnumbered them by not including the cover when naming pages 1 and 2. I'll change that right away! Thanks!
