UPD: Urgent fix for mouse steering. Thanks to @aj647 for spotting the issue quickly!

It’s been some intensive bug hunting, but hopefully now performance should get back up. Also, if you remember, some time ago I’ve made a post about disc filtering for shadows reducing noise in shadows in front of the car (here’s new comparison screenshots). Now, I improved its general implementation and made it standard, with a few other optimization along the way to try and compensate for its extra cost. I had to start cutting out those extra shader sets to try and make things compatible with rain (otherwise, I’d have to triple rain-related shader sets, and, if nothing else, it would make CSP quite a lot larger and slower to build).

Hopefully new build would work fine in general, but if not, I’ll work on shadows filtering more, possibly lowering quality a bit.

As for rain, unfortunately there wasn’t a lot of time to work on it with all the fixes, but now rain starting in the middle of the race should no longer cause that annoying freeze (and rain drops on windscreen won’t act all weird around wipers anymore).

Next stop, I hope, is to work on finally adding rain tyres with proper look and online syncronization, and to start guessing different tyre parameters.

Hi mate. Brilliant work as allways. Thumbs up!! 2 things i noticed. The wiper trace guessing of the mercedes cars, the sls GT3 '09 and the AMG GT3 '15 seems not to work at all. Maybe someone has that problem too? The second "bug" i noticed is the GPU/CPU utilization, especially in multi AI races. Is there any chance for you to optimize the cpu usage more to bring more fps? Would be awsome. Wish you all the best. :)

Hi, sure, now that those major FPS issues are fixed, I’ll turn to improving wipers guesser, preparing configs and such. As for second issue, that’s the holy grail of mine, to be honest, I’ll try to optimize things some more as soon as I’d find any idea on what I can try to improve. Thank you! :)

Hi, just installed this version of CSP and the tyres on the Formula Hybrid 2020 seem to change colours and even slightly graphically degrade. Other than that it seems fine for me, thanks for your work!

for me the rain does not work from the car, any F1 or F6 cam I have only black screen, what can it be? it was the same with previous version ... I have never managed to make it work, GTX 1070 Ti, i5 9600K, 32GB, nvme :/

New to the preview builds. When you update to a new build, is it best to update over existing or clean old configs and shaders first?

I found a bug for Car Stereo feature. It is related to engine sound if your engine RPM is higher and your engine noise is louder, then the blocks animation can run out of the screen... If you revs your car, blocks react to the engine sound too, not just for the Spotify music at the background

I still have the lag changing from dry=>wet condiition. Tested on 0.1.72, didn't had the opportunity to download the 0.1.71 It's only the first transition, it's just like soemthing that need to be loaded for the first time when the drops strt to fall. I noticed that adding at beginning a 0 sec transition from dry to wet in a weather plan slve the situation. The only problem is that you start with some drops on your windshield even if sunny.

Best way is to copy dwrite.dll and extension folder to AC root folder manually overwriting files, no need to clean anything first

The performance boost in the rain is great, thanks. There's an issue with the tire textures, though. It seems like the mud effect is absent, the tires look blue when going off track.

Have you enabled local refelction (SSLR) under CSP EXTRA FX settings? Please note that, as for all Extra Fx effects, It doesn't work on 3 monitors setup. I have a 3 monitor setup and usually i switch video settings to 1 monitor when I look at replays so that I can fully enjoy also the reflections of the car on wet track.

I would just like to say that I enter the game just to see the rain, how it falls on the ground and starts to make the asphalt darker with every drop, then how they stick together and when they get big they drain and capture the others, which wonder of work you managed to do, I wanted to congratulate you IIja!

Only Install Spoty & select the Alfa Giulia. I am not sure but i think thats the only car who works ( i test some but only the Alfa show the titles). You can also use Tostyfi to setup Global Hotkeys for Spoty. And this Hotkey you can bind to the wheel. Use Logitech Profiler or Joytokey (if you have Thrustmaster and co)

It looks even more spectacular with every update. I'm slowly getting scared of driving in the dark when it starts to rain. I know we shower you with wishes and ideas .... but .... I would also have a wish xD could the AI ​​automatically drive a little slower at night and even in the rain ... like us normal mortals? ^^ Many many Thanks !

Thanks for the update! Performance improvement and no stutter or freeze anymore. But there is somethimg going on with the side rear mirrors! Its like the shadows/ reflektions are inverted. Clear weather its fine. Transition to rain the side mirrors are messed up and going back to clear dont fix it. This is not an issue with 1.69. I'm using triple screens.

Hi Ilja, thanks for your effort and dedication, I think this version is better than 1.70. But still there is a bug regarding raindrops on the windshield when using the onboard camera of the F6 button. I am experiencing a bug where using photo mode in replays to change the lighting angle doesnt not move the sun. The sun stays in the same place.

There is a bug with Mercedes-Benz AMG GT3. There is no mask in the windscreen wipers, so them do not clean the rain.

Am I the only one having problem with the side mirrors, in rain, running triples with 1.72? Would appreciate if someone could confirm that its working as it should so I can find out what I'm doing wrong. Going back to 1.69 fix it for me.

great job on pushing this forward, keep it up and bring that rainy physics soon please!! my $0.02 would be that when rain turned off, the drops remain on the windshield and even going 200kmh+ doesn't move them away. Also when breaking but still going 100kmh+ the water starts flowing down the windshield which also wouldn't happen. Looks awesome tho!

I'm having problems with mirrors to they look overexposed very bright, I've gone back to 1.69 for now. I have reported this to IIja. I have hunted around for a fix but haven't come up with anything.

Hi guys i saw a little problem on my replays (in solo mod against AI, offline, one screen) with the 1.72 preview. In all the races under the rain only my car has the vipers on all the others have not. It Will be more realistic if we can force the vipers for all. But it's not so urgent. Just to be sure before going to trial & error. With CSP1.72P (and SOL 2.1A4) weather plan transition e.g from rain to clear still has massive stuttering (also in replay). Correct? BTW So much joy with the weather changing. You all did a excellent job. Thx!

I have still a noticeable freeze and some stuttering, but only on the first transition from CLEAR => RAIN. Ilja is working on it since it seems that the solution implemented in 1.72 P is working for someone, but not for everyone (for example for me). At the moment I found this workaround that totally elimnate the freeze and stuttering, simply put this line at the beginning of .lua of the weather plan. Hey @IIja .. Although the patch is okay it still has major new issues at the moment. #1 Light positioning in replay is not working and 2# Same goes for seasonal changes in replay, it does not want to change. When I switched to older version of the CSP patch.. everything works fine. Hope you can see this message.

This version compared to the version 1.69, my game image looks much brighter and washed out. Any idea? Also, I have FFB much stronger in my DD Simucube wheel if I activate under Content Manager/Driver, the option "Allow to use patch car's data to activate extended physics". When I disable it FFB turns to normal again.

Hi, is first time I have installed lights patch, today, I have the last version and of course content managaer update and sol 2.01. In rain debug I can see the rain % change... but the wetness % only change brigntess of road and water % no effect... I like to have water effect. Is there something more need to be activate?

You can find it on a post below, but you don't need to revert back. Also in last CM version simply go to settings/Content Manager/DRIVE and under Quick Drive enable "Allow to use patch car's data to activate extended physic"

Not all tracks show the rain effect. Try Spa or Brandshatch and see if you get the rain effect.

I installed SOL2.1alpha4 then the CSP1.72preview. Also no rain. Then I only reinstalled SOL2.1a4. Suddenly there was rain.

I just can't get the wipers sfx or rain sfx working from inside the car. I've even copied the sfx folder from the csp extension folder and placed into the Assetto Corsa Extension Folder but still nothing. Any idea anyone?

Have you tried to set wipers to AUTO in the same app as were you select the weather type. It's in the right down corner. If you set it to auto and select rain the wipers should start automatically. If it works you can always put in the manual and e.g. assign buttons. Hope it works

I have to report that some cars (for example NSX GT3 ACC and Jaguar GT3 ACC) crashing with this release.

Disable General Patch Settings then load a race. Go back to menu and Activate it again. Try this with Extra Fx and Lightning FX too. A friend of my had the same Problem & and he do this Deaktivate/Aktivate some Settings only. But you must load it one time Deactive before activate again. Edit: I have to revise myself here! My colleague is telling me the error will probably recur later.

I have a 2060RTX Super and have no stutter here when i change the weather. A friend has Massive Huge freezes with a 3080 RTX. But we found one simple Solution. Reset your Sol Config. After the Reset he has no Frezzes, no Stutter, nothing! Absolut fluid. Dont go back to an older Version. This one runs Brilliant when you find your Settings guys. After the reset he can now select Ultra settings in Sol Config. He has a Absolut Smooth change of the weather now. ^^

After 2 days of first time testing I'm not so happy. The effect is fantastic. the problem is that is not specific that work only in some tracks and some cars. I'm testing only the kunos, example fiat 500 abarth the window is not clean, the lateral windows no effect. and the external mirror graphics go to very bad. and of course the water effect only some track. Example internal laguna seca don't work. So actualy how "official" tracks and cars have the full effect? I hope I'm wrong. But maybe is there a solution for manual "extract" data from track and car and then create the rain fx file ini?. I see some external rain fx file. I supposed they work. But how get this data? Can a normal people get this data for it favorite track and car and then create the complete fx? Please ho know how to do make a little text tutorial. The best solution is to have a site where put the official file created. Maybe is there a easy way to create a program the auto read the track and car data and create the full rain fx? I love rain fx but want to use in my favorite tracks and cars !"!!!

Hi Stefano, Are you familiar with e.g. GT Planet the AC mod thread? Or RaceDepartment AC download? A lot of so called rainfx files have been created for tracks. This adds the wet puddles and then the reflection of the cars in these puddles. Wow! I'm still learning as I;m pretty late to the CSP preview party but the community is very helpful. Some tracks get the rainfx update downloaded automatically via CM/Github and others you can do it manually. A car needs to be 'ready' for e.g. rainfx. So at this stage not all cars -a lot- are supporting this rainfx with wipers and multi layer windscreen. And I think also a complete dry windshield after rain is a work in progress (not sure, maybe an expert can reply?). And what about snow :) Nice for a future version of CSP SnowFX

Hi! After 1.72 installation I have black screen in race. Downgrade to 1.69 which works without any problem sadly don't make any change - it's still stucked with black screen after starting the game. What could gone wrong?

Hey pal, That is usually the Post Processing Effects, I had the same issue. Sometimes the default Filter makes it go to a black screen when starting a race. Once you change it, it will go back to normal.

I've Just installed the preview for the first time and everything works great with the rain but i cant get my wiper to work on any car, ive tried all the default kunos cars and mapped the wipers to buttons and they wont even start with it set to auto in the sol config, im pulling my hair out now as ive run out of things to try. In the showroom the wipers work on the car so there is no problem with that.

GT Planet has some ext_config text that helps for some cars just search [WIPERS_TRACE_...]

Is there someone that know the Rain_FX parameters that can be used in the car's extension .ini files? I know only [WIPERS_TRACE], but I would like to know if there are parameters that allow me to make some material/object not affected from rain drops. I searched on GitHub but I found only instructions for tracks. Tried similar parameters in car .ini files seems to have no effect. Thank you

When i launch the game without shadows i get blackscreen on monitor but everything shows fine in VR. When i turn shadows on i got gameplay on the screen aswel. is there a fix for this? i don't need shadows in VR but would like to see the game on monitor aswel for spectators.

I'm finding more and more cars where the rain drops are absent from the side windows or where the wipers sweep but don't remove the rain from the window (Abarth 500 Esse Esse, some of the BMW GT's) spring to immediate attention. And also cars not having working headlights BMW M4 is one. Any idea if common problem or do I need to install or reinstall certain other mods or make edits to the INI files etc

Is there any way i can illuminate the headlights more to se a bit better , brighten the track infront a bit more maybe? The lights light up the signs and bariers etc very well but not the actual road surface very well.

Since the 0.1.69 pv1 i lost the "head movement" in interior camera and the mouse free look inside the car as well... this options are active in CM but don't work ingame :( how can i repair this?

As I understood Ilja remoeved rain/wind sounds. But you/we can use the SFX from CSP1.52. It's experimental :) . You can play around with the volume levels via SOL config 1.8 page 12 of 23. Remember it's not perfect (yet!)

Not all cars support this feature. For testing purposes I always use the Kunos Porsche 911 GT3RS. Also good to know that cleaning the windows seems also 'connected' to the type of weather and the time after you've activated a certain weather type. When changing from e.g wet to dry you can clean your windows also in dry but not all the time. Only the first couple of seconds and then it doesn't clean them anymore. Probably some algorithms but I leave that to the experts, I'm just a happy user ;) Long answer...sorry....hope it helps?

yes, it requires .ini file for track, has youtube tutorial, really easy and fast. First time about 10 mins, rest about minute per track.

Read above. Rain sound was deleted in the most recent version as it was not good enough for the moment. If you want you can add it manually by taking the SFX files from version CSP1.52 and copy them to the new 1.72 folder. Keep in mind it's experimenting, alpha/beta and does not work as intended. For me personally it is ok enough and looking forward to an even better implementation

Yes, just toggle "manual wipers" inside the weather in-game app (can't remember exactly the app name, but it's easy to find)

For some reason, from yesterday when I activate the rain, it causes GPU failed error for me. Tried to reinstall CSP, SOL, GPU drivers and downgraded settings. I don´t know what is happening.

What do I actually need to do to make RainFX draw the rain? I'm sure I had it working before, but thanks to some weird SteamVR issues I can't use the stable version anymore and am forced onto the preview build. Now I have installed newest CM, CSP version 0.1.72-preview1 and Sol 2.0.2, but there is simply no rain appearing. Sol is changing sky and appearing to do something, but neither track nor windscreen changes. I am sometimes still getting the brief screen freeze when rain starts, it seems to only happen if I'm on the move, driving. Stationary, the transition from dry to rain causes no freezes.

The photo mode lightning angle does not work in lights-patch-v0.1.72-preview1-full. The clouds are moving but the sun isn't. ;)

Hi, I noticed tehre are some non standard AC shader (for example stPerPixelMultiMap used in Russel MK14 mod ) that are not covered from drops. Is there a way or a file where to define that also that shaders show drops on the surface?

just consider the 488gt3 has electrical issues atm and try a different car, wipers only work for some of the cars - most kunos cars if I'm not mistaken

I feel lucky.....Running sol 2.02 and preview 1.72 , I have rain spray and rain/ viper sound working, making assetto corsa sooo immersive . This is brilliant :)

Can anyone else confirm that TyreFX textures seem to completely misaligned in VR? Everything worked fine before in the stable version.

If that is a RSS model there issues with this version as the extension is broken and causes the tyres to show incorrectly.

Hello, Installed this, then Sol 2.0.2 when I found out about it, then installed this update again, but now I can't turn rain on. The weatherFX app is there, the rain debug is also there but I literally can't start the rain now, any help?

I found out why. I had installed the P13C mod, which came with the file dwrite.dll, I installed the CSP dwrite.dll file and it works now. Does anyone know what's going on and why this mod has that file? Is it in relation to the advanced physics of the mod? WIll I lose them with CSP .dll file?

Hi, I have wrong tyre textures on some formula cars, for example, Ferrari f1 cars younger than F2004 and also all RSS mod formula cars. And the wrong tyre textures do not occur on CSP 0.160. But on CSP 0.171 or 0.172 I have this issue! (that three are the only CSP versions I tried). On these tyres there is a kind of white veil and also no reflections, they are just black. This issue occurs when these cars are driving. On another formula cars the tyre textures are all right, with reflections… I have Sol 2.0.2, PPFilter Horizon Weather Shaders System: 2080, I7 with 3.2 GHz (10th generation) In another cases, the CSP made the graphics of AC fantastic!! Thank you again very much for your hard work!

Load new content before Sol always, always read the readme file and there are some good videos on content manager highly suggest take the time learn everything you can about content manager that will make your rain Racing Experience phenomenal thanks taIlja Jusupov aka x4fab is creating mods for Assetto!!!

Wonderful update. Loving the new look on some of the tracks, especially Nords. The 3d grass color looks a little undersaturated on Monza though compared to the way it looked with older CSP versions. Really stands out next to the tree texture colors. On 1.69, everything blended together better. All the other tracks seem fine and got a nice boost in the looks department when paired with the latest Sol alpha version. Thanks as always for the great work.

I have problems with preview versions that include rain. With 1.73 preview (or whatever preview version) when i activate the rain the screen turns black with onboard cameras but with track and free camera i can see the game. WHen it's time past 21:40 more or less the car and lights crash and looks so bad. Maybe is some option that I have activated or not? I don't know what more to do.
