Then yes, absolutely, call the collector and offer them 10% of what you owe them in cash to wipe it from your record. If they say no, end the call, wait a week and call back to offer 15%. Rise and repeat until they take an offer, but never accept a partial payment scenario - only pay if they're willing to wipe it from your record
