Sprites tint according to the time of the current events to match the background. So if it's night, the sprites turn darker. However, I came across a small exception in that system: what if certain parts of the character remain bright?

Caine is a big example here; his electric hair sparkles and shines. If he gets tinted to be darker since it is night time, the system would automatically tint his shining electric hair as well.

To get around this, my programmer added a small exception flag, allowing me to determine which parts of a sprite will get dark, and those that won't.

Caine's electric hair is saved and will continue to shine, even when it's night! This also applies to James' marks, which will now glow in the dark for real in later chapters :)

Wonderful! Those little details will really help the story pop. I know that I appreciate the glowy effect too.

...but if we consider his hair glowing than his shoulders and face should be lighted up too, no?..... o-O

I guess it depends on how his hair is glowing and how the shadows fall. From what I’ve seen of the game, this effect will accomplish what it needs to without being overly complicated and still achieving the desired effect. 😊
