Fashion Show (Patreon)
Content
Because writing just isn't happening this month, I'm focusing on all art and code related projects, which means the fashion show system!
Patreon users said they missed being able to make clothes as requirements for the chapters. While it's fun doing freestyle clothes, that incentive to use the system to advance or 'win' something isn't there anymore.
Hence the Fashion Show. Players can enter 'competitions' in which they can win an outfit (that they can wear). This can range from dresses pants, shoes, hairstyles etc. Artist Rosariy has drawn 47 outfits so far in preparation for this. The idea is that you would like to collect all of these outfits.
(an example of the latest batch of outfits that were drawn)
I'm also toying with the idea of earning a special token after winning a competition. These tokens can be used to unlock side stories (only Plus users have access to side stories in the first place). Of course, those that were already unlocked won't suddenly be locked - but it's for future side stories, maybe. Would like to hear your thoughts about it.
Players are required to create a garment according to specifications, but they must also hire a model (costs gold) and dress her up (hairstyle and even shoes matter!), to win the competition.
Here are some mock-up images of what I have so far:
Select a competition to enter:
Requirements for that competition:
Most items will now have an attribute, called 'style'. There are four styles; cute, sexy, cool and elegant. You must create and wear an outfit based on these styles. You will also be able to hover over any icon telling you the name/colour (specifically for colourblind users).
And then choose your model, who has her own strengths and weaknesses in styles, so pick the right one! Model names will use names from Patreons! If you haven't added your name to the list, you can do so here.
I haven't created a mock-up yet for the judging phase. The idea is that each correct requirement will score you points, with emphasis on the garment you must create. However, matching hair and shoes also count! You will score a rank, with the highest rank giving you everything the outfit has to offer, while lower ranks will only give you certain items from the outfit. You can of course, enter the competition again if you didn't get the highest rank, but it will cost you gold again.
Anyways, these are just mock-ups for now! It all starts with mock-ups and then we go from there to the actual coding.
I hope this system will bring back that need to fiddle around with the clothes again. And that this time it's more challenging as you don't need to recreate what a client wants, but instead you have a little more freedom to create something that looks nice.
