I kinda like how Natsu's power ups are temporary. Most shonen have the problem of scaling way to high and end up with people like Madara and Kaido which the protagonist shouldn't have been able to beat outright (Naruto/Sasuke seal is ok). Dragon ball super is running into that issue with the recent manga arc (not the movie). It keeps the series grounded until they build up to the finale. Transformation after transformation is tiresome

Natsu's dragon force that we saw during the fights against Jellal and Zero were like the pseudo version of super Saiyan like in the Slug DBZ movie. He will master it on his own. Those times were a 3x multiplier to his overall stats.

Beginning of series injured Gajeel was comfortably blitzing lightning. Times 3 plus FoE is light speed. People say the scaling doesn't make sense in this show but they don't pay attention. Even when Bickslow was talking to "the dog and chicken" he said they were a challenge for even him (a lower top tier of the guild). Gajeel was protecting Levy at the time too.

Normally you can't mix two types of Slayer magic together. It would make you sick/die like you saw at the end of the Zancrow fight. The only plot hole was that Zancrow was able to eat Natsu's flames. Mashima was just creating this system so he was still fixing the bugs (Fairy Tail was his only work he didn't plan out and was going week by week) But Wendy was able to heal Natsu and his scarf (she tried every type of healing and status ailments), plus the Tenrou tree's protection kept him alive. God flames are not superior to Dragon flames. Zancrow was just that much stronger than Natsu at the time (Fairy tail members got a boast on Tenrou island) so he was talking shit about Jellal and Master Zero. Lightning and Flames both fall under Plasma. Mashima was just putting seeds down for some stuff in the future. Especially for the end of series. You're not the only one who misses it and then continue on to say the power system sucks later on👍
