I understand where Pat is coming from when it comes to Inaki(Luffy) but I think it might be the same case as me where we have this expectation of Luffy and if the acting isn't close to the real thing then it feels off. There are moments that I like how Inaki acts as Luffy but overall it is hard to pull off.

Definitely out of the big three one piece is the one I would expect to be the most difficult to do live action and because they did well I would be interested in Naruto. Plus it’s the only big three not to have a live action adaptation, although I haven’t seen the Bleach movie it would be cool to have another way to compare all three.

i feel Pat honestly, i just finished the whole thing yesterday and me personally the only parts I really liked was the Buggy episode, Jeff Ward killed it, and the episode Sanji gets introduced. Seems like its getting a lot of praise though online from what I've seen so happy for the people who enjoyed it but wasn't for me

The actor who does Luffy is growing on me a little more episode, but overall I think he's the worst out of the 3. I think it might be because English isn't his native language, but I just find the delivery is off. Like it sounds like he's just reading off the script sometimes. But it's been getting better every episode.

Personally I think Inaki is perfect for Luffy but I feel like some of his dialogues were written like it was an anime (which is wrong) and yet his character is supposed to be a more realistic version of Luffy (which is good) so he kind of has to reunite 2 completely different genres with his character, while adding all the expectations on the actor itself I think it's a pretty hard job. Granted there is field for improvement.

For Pat, I think he just heavily loves the Anime that any kind of deviation wouldn't sit well with him, also he LOVES the characters, especially Luffy and Zoro so of course he wants the actors to be perfect. But I loved how they acknowledged that Luffy is a hard character to do so hopefully they wont be too hard on Inaki going foward. Although I am okay with the changes so far, I'm not going to lie, Koby showing up in Syrup Village at the end through me for a loop, lol.

Nah I think Naruto would be easier to do than Naruto. When OP Live Action was announced. Most people's complaints was that it was going to be one of the hardest because of it's goofy nature. Naruto, it's crazy to say, but more grounded than One Piece.

Usopp mom was shown in the anime, I remember cause she had a long pointy nose lol and luffy never mentioned his dad to him or that he knows him. Mary was alive at the end of the arc and he was the one who actually gave them the boat

Luffy does mention that he knows Yasopp to Usopp in the anime because they showed a flashback of Luffy hanging out with Yasopp and Yasopp talked about Usopp. In the anime Luffy mentioned Yasopp first but in this Usopp mentioned Yasopp first.

This is also true, it took them a long time (mainly Wellz and Jerry) to like OP, they were too busy mocking the character designs or the goofiness of the story to like it for what it is. But I do remember Pat and Evan taking a liking to OP fairly early, and by early I do mean like 40+ episodes in lol. Wellz I don’t think started liking OP until “Nothing Happened”. And even then he still trashed talked the anime sometimes.

I’ve watched it in English and now starting the Japanese Dub and I’m telling you guys it’ll make all the difference id you just can’t get over the voices , it really just makes it feel authentic

It's a bit of a mystery to me why they're watching the dub version. The sub version uses almost the same voice actors as the One Piece anime, which makes it even more interesting to watch. Almost all the characters, from the Straw Hat Pirates to Buggy to Coby to Roger to Garp, all have the same voice. I wouldn't be surprised if they knew this information and still chose the dub version. It's always hard to read subtitles, so I can understand the feeling. However, since they have been watching the One Piece anime with a sub, I think it's normal for them to want to watch a movie with the same voice. At least I continue to watch the anime One Piece with the Japanese audio sub version, so I'm watching this movie with the Japanese audio sub version as well. By the way, how does everyone else watch it? I'm a little curious about it.

dub, these actors deserve a chance to show what they're capable of. I'm watching it in Japanese dub currently, I'm on my 3rd rewatch, just because it's so good. I do agree though that they do need to get over the voice change, a lot of one piece fans are used to the Japanese sub so Its understandable to be weirded out by the difference in voices, but if they have a problem with it so much, idk why they just don't watch it in the Japanese dub.

ngl tho, Inaki is more Luffy like when he's not acting (as in when they were doing promotional videos of OPLA) maybe thats why I still see a lot of Luffy in him lol. And among those 3 I actually feel like Nami appears to be more serious and mysterious than it was in the anime tho. Like before we got closer to the Arlong arc she was more cunning and acts cute just to get by and nearing to the Arlong arc then she was more serious and stuffs (as far as I remember tho) And yeah, they just announced of script for Season 2 and I am heavily worried for Chopper's character truthfully. And much more characters thats gonna come cuz Grand Line is full of interesting things lol
