Fairy tail is honestly a solid turn your brain off shonen. the hate for it online is super overblown, it’s a legit very successful series, it feels like a show that only the negativity towards it spills over onto social media

Glad you guys seem to really enjoy Fairy Tail, this is when it really starts to pick up IMO. For me this is a simple down to earth feel good anime that's just fun to watch. It has some decent deep moments, but for the most part it was always a great anime to just kinda unwind to. Lots of fun stuff coming up fast and some great fights too, cheers!

People hate on FT because they don't like the concept of the power of friendship even though in this show it's a legitimate thing. The plot definitely does get a lot more intricate in the next few arcs.

I mean it being legitimate doesn't take away the fact that it's plot armor. And it's a pretty naive concept the idea of actually raising your power level just by thinking of your friends. Granted I get that's how the show works, but I can understand how one wouldn't be that enthusiastic about the concept. I feel like other shows do power of friendship way better.

I'm kind of the opposite, when other shows do the power of friendship troupe it's usually something that can't be explained within that show's power system as to why this person got a sudden power up all of a sudden but at least in FT they established that feelings are linked to your magic power so I'm more accepting of that troupe here.

Can’t wait for the next arc. First longer arc of Fairy Tail. And it’s great because it doesn’t go on for too long, but the pacing is way better there. It’s just long enough. Gonna be lit.

Where you guys are in Fairy Tail is still fairly decent and the fights still have some rhyme and reason. I was just like you guys enjoying Fairy Tail in the beginning but later on in the anime the power ups and asspulls start to make no sense and most of the wins are straight up bullshit. You can tell after a certain arc that the author turns lazy. Enjoy the honeymoon phase while it still lasts.

Pat is forgetting what is probably the most important thing to remember in this show. Fairy Tail is a family. All of Makarov’s speeches always mention how it’s okay to be weak and that with unity you can cover for each other’s weakness. It didn’t matter how civilly Laxus went about his plan. It was doomed to fail from the start. Like even if Laxus managed to kick a bunch of people out. He was still going to fail. Because all that would happen is that everybody else would leave the guild with them. And the difference between what Laxus and Gajeel did is that Gajeel wasn’t attacking his family.

I think the beginning and mid parts of FT are solid. I think the small issues just become a lot more noticeable later on on the show that well are a bit too silly etc. Imo It's not a bad shounen but it's definitely not top tier one considering just the later part of the series.
