Really enjoyed the high budget scenes in the episode, they looked clean as fuck even if the same scene was played like 12 times. Personally, 1015 still hasn't been topped for me. The other highly praised episodes like 1062 mostly focus on really flashy animation and well executed fight choreography. But I don't think a single episode is close to 1015 in terms of using animation as a medium to benefit the narrative e.g. the scene where we get a window into Yamato's mind as she connects the dots between Ace talking about Luffy and Odens logbook, the juxtaposition of the Scabbards dying and then the flashback as we see everything that’s gone into first ryou punch on Kaido. I’ve heard 1072 is gonna blow 1071 out of the water so I’m really excited but I still don’t think 1015 will be topped

I've been thinking about this. Super Saiyan is easily the most iconic, its not close, but iconic =/= best. I can't think of a single transformation that thematically fits a character more than Gear 5 fits Luffy so I'd probably agree. But I'm not familiar with every shounen so I could be wrong.

To be fair the gum gum fruit itself isn’t a threat, it’s the awakening that is. They said that the fruit hasn’t awakened in 800 years so my guess is that there were most likely other gum gum fruit users but none of them has ever gotten as Luffy did or was even known to the government. The government could have killed them immediately had they known, but as pat said they run the risk of someone might’ve establish a pattern and realize there’s more to the gum gum fruit that meets the eye.

Despite what people are saying i like the Hiyori part, it was great story wise for wrapping up all oden did trying to free wano and setting up luffy and everyone 20 years later, plus Hiyori playing his favorite song. also oden was lowkey dancing like Nika and had that effect..... Besides that bro Luffy was Phenomenal. long story but, Watching this episode i think i get what G5/Nika is fr fr, Oda is always Literal and when they say The Nika fruit is the most "Ridiculous power"(resembling the properties of rubber), i think they mean in every sense of the 2 words. and seeing this episode proves that with also knowing the inspiration was cartoons and Tom and Jerry(my fav old cartoon). And the nickname JoyBoy is So fitting bc when luffy fights yea he can make other people laugh, but hes literally laughing at himself too and what is happening which is hilarious. so when they say it Ridiculous power, i see the way he fights, the definition of Ridiculous(deserving or inviting derision or mockery; absurd.), but its the most (power)-ful. really w reaction. i believe most audiences that watch one piece dont get the cartoony animation with luffy's power or think it is underwhelming because they always expect an edgy, raged, and mad kind of power up. But, this is different and thats what I love about one piece and oda did a really good job with making this power up fit luffy so well, it is literally perfect. I love this reaction because of the embracement of the looney tunes feel and you guys loving that. When i read the manga, I was a bit concerned with what you guys were going to judge about it. But, this was the best reaction for the new episode hands down. I was even surprised Rob made it a million times better too.

Rob can be so eloquent when he wants to be. Amazing reaction from everyone! I am so glad ya'll understand this is the BEST kind of transformation for OP and for our MC Luffy. It's goofy, cartoony, doesn't take itself too seriously, but still whoops some serious ass. G5 really encapsulates the themes Oda has been portraying since chapter 1.

Objectively speaking, everyone has their preferences, something being cartoony fluid or Sakuga doesn’t automatically make it a better fight or animation, it’s just what you’re accustomed to. TYBW hasn’t been lacking at all especially when everything is wallpaper material even with it’s in between frames and regardless the compositing makes up for the rest, you’re just comparing it to your favorites making yourself as a true biased one here as if it wasn’t obvious enough. Animation is subjective just like art. Some may appeal to a wider and greater audience as the casual masses but that doesn’t automatically make it better and the same could be true vice versa where most people don’t appreciate it but it’s actually better than what people give it credit for. It could have all the fluid animation in the world that doesn’t automatically make it better than anything else that’s not fluid. Aside from that, Wellz said he simply preferred the latest 6th season of MHA season over only the 1st TYBW cour and part 6 of JoJos as it surprised him since he wasn’t expecting it to be that much better than the previous trash season, he wasn’t comparing these whole series overall to each other as he knows what’s better than what, regardless he knows it’s his opinion on the end of the day, unlike you.

Anyways, this one piece episode objectively can’t be compared since there’s no animation like it in Bleach as it’s cartoony being unique, so you can’t even compare it to something that doesn’t even have this style of animation to begin with and vice versa. The reality is you just prefer it cause you believe one piece is a better series, when objectively Bleach has always had and will continue to have the better production quality throughout it’s anime adaptation, the OP anime could never be better as long as it has its atrocious pacing, don’t even get me started on JoJos which has the best possible adaptation that an anime could ever dare to have in terms of actually enhancing the source material.

Even if you never outright said those NewGens are better, you’ve certainly acted and implied that your opinions are objective as you are now saying here with animation (if not then we can just drop it since it’s just your opinion and you know it) the same thing goes for if you genuinely think DS has a better adaptation since it just has more generally appealing animation and nothing else, literally nothing on any OG for that matter and if you can’t see that past it’s pretty animation, then that is what’s genuinely mental here as you’re blinded by pretty colors. Fortunately that’s the reality. JoJos has some of, if not the best enhanced material from decades prior as it was considered “Unadaptable” cause of its distinct art style and the poses, which is why it took forever for it to get a full and proper adaptation, not to mention the best creative writing in the business out of the whole medium as doing everything that most other series borrows from making it ahead of its time, so if anything I’m sorry you can’t see that. It’s not even my favorite series and even I can recognize it’s critically, if not objectively better than any of our favorites, especially with the simple fact of how old it is being nearly 40 years old and yet still feels fresh and new as of the latest part.

It's not a valid criticism when the animation is beloved. Sure the same scene replaying was a bit annoying and valid to point that out as a flaw but the animation and sounds they used to say that it wasn't good in your opinion is valid. Everybody's got different taste but that doesn't make it a valid criticism because criticism is meant to improve something you're not an expert on it it's just how you as a fan perceived it.
