One way to construct Muichiro's past would've been through his MIst forms. He's using Mist Breathing because of his cloudy memories. You could give hints over the course of the battle that he's fighting thanks to his brother. Short 5 second flashbacks that help him gradually remember things. Unfortunately they chose the worst option- full episode exposition.

to be fair, when i watched it i also thought muichiro was the one talking they did very little to make their voices sound different in that scene and the framing at a glance made it seem like muichiro was talking but then you remember what yuichiro was saying while dying and it clicks (for me anyway)

Murchiro has been narrating his past the whole time....we just got to see what took place as if he wasn't during the actual flashback.....so at the end it was Muichiro just remembering his brother's last words continuing the narration

Fun fact, Love Breathing is derived from Flame Breathing (Just like mist comes from water, and sound comes from thunder). Another fun fact, Mitsuri Kanroji (the Love Hashira) was actually trained by Kyojuro Rengoku. She was his student before he became a Hashira. She struggled with Flame Breathing initially until she went on a mission and altered the form to fit her strengths more and that's how she created Love Breathing
