There's no blame to be placed at all. Usopp and Chopper leaving Big Mom to continue the fight elsewhere isn't a loss, it's just moving the pieces around so that everyone will be where they need to be to gain success. Although after seeing their Part 6 reaction, I think they Jerry just might not be smart enough to understand simple concepts like this.

It feels like every few chapters. Oda just says fuck it and starts retconning a ton of stuff just to drag the arc out. It's like he knew he needed orochi to get defeated around the same time the arc is ending. But the idea of Kaido just randomly killing him before that is too juicy for oda. So he cheats and goes for both. But ends up not nailing either

Wdym? Orochi ate the yamata-no-orochi fruit which is essentially a hydra, chopping off one head was obvious that he wasn't dead as the mythical creature itself has like 8 heads. Kaido killing him was to show that he was no longer needed to him and him living was just a quirk of the fruit power.

I think they really need to get some memory check (they be forgetting too much too quickly or aren't paying attention enough, even Wellz reading chapters ahead and witnessing Onigashima for the second time can't seem to get his memories together) because Sengoku did declare Rocks D Xebec dead when talking abt the God Valley incident, now whether it's true or false is another question.
