@Dblock at no point did Kaido say he was doing any training during those five years. He used that time to build up his crew so that they could easily take over Wano. And it's not like Kaido was expecting interference in his fight with Oden, he just took advantage of the situation to make things easier for him. At the end of the day he did what he had to do to get ahead but Kaido is definitely not a coward.
