In the manga that scene was always disturbing to me but I don’t recall Denji ever swallowing it, so I was just planning to overlook and let it go but now I can safely say that if that was me, aside from being naturally and obviously traumatized, I would easily trigger snap into apeshit mode by putting Himeno’s head (or literally anyone really) on a pike for all to see or maybe even split stomp her jaw like King Kong once did to a T-Rex. Could honestly care less if she’s drunk cause I’m not letting that slide no matter how beautiful someone is or “down bad” I could be. There’s always has to be a line drawn to where you must have respect for yourself. They really went above and beyond making him swallow that shit but thankfully it was censored.

If any of the big3 had a higher production quality with better pacing was to come out today, most people would actually be eating it up because there’s action in almost every episode as true peak Shonens and actually keeps your attention glued to the screen better than it however they originally came out back in the 2000s, CSM is not doing that well in comparison because it’s not what people expected and there was only mainly action in the 1st, 3rd and 4th episodes and even with that alone it’s nowhere near a complex just yet, the Big3 currently modernized would never suffer through that.

@HeavenlyR I do agree a lot of the people complaining are just used to generic stiff shounen character personalities and no variety, terribly written female characters and one dimensional MC leads (Although Denji's personality isn't one that I can say I favour it does provide variety). Although I don't think Preliator is hating I just don't quite agree with the stats on that. Do to what I'm seeing on multiple sites per say. The minority is always most vocal at the end of the day.

@HeavenlyR When I said “CSM is not doing that well” I was referring to keeping many certain people’s attention span for anyone craving some action and real plot/story development in comparison to the Big3 if they were to be made today like Bleach for example (which mind you is apparently being held back in terms of views due to many others catching up to the OG series + not being available outside of English speaking countries) as far as anything else is concerned it’s doing just fine especially in popularity like you mentioned, granted the reasons for that don’t necessarily speak to its quality as the ratings for every episode has been anywhere from an 8 to 8.9/10 mainly due to its production, nothing else so far, even the most hard-core fans know this because they know what’s coming.

Besides Himeno, you can see Makima for another example. And Japan very much cares what the West thinks which is why more and more outreach has been done to appeal to the West because they care about the $$$. It's also why plenty of American movie companies care about what China has to say because they also care about $$$. Not to mention that Japan has a drastically shrinking population and companies depend on their profits increasing so they have no choice but to outreach to the West and hopefully be profitable there

People aren't mad that they got Denji risking his life fighting devils they're upset that he's getting sexual favors in return by older women. @Preliator Uno Wym peak plot/story like bleach? You do remember the biggest criticism of TYBW from the manga WAS its plot right, not hitting details but the word mary sue was a popular throw around? Idk if you remember reading it when it came out but not a lot of people actually liked the plot in TYBW, especially with the amount of rushing it had. Not saying the anime original added context cant make it significantly better, nor am i saying its bad(because it still had peak character design/building/conclusion on top of multiple historic fights), but the plot was NEVER something bleach was hype'd for. Thats like saying Bleach has good world building when we have only seen 2 towns and the outskirts of huecto mundo the entire series lmao.

@Panda That’s simply a fallacious notion that Bleach never had good plot/story, it’s just very nuanced & abstract in complexity for a Shonen that most people wouldn’t expect out of it nor can they fully grasp it, they prefer to be spoonfed when it’s never been known for that nor holding your hand. TYBW was mainly criticized for certain decisions and how rushed it was, besides that there can’t be a “Mary Sue” when that applies to female characters and doesn’t really make sense when you see everything that’s foreshadowed which is another thing that Bleach has that is just on par, if not better than even those that think it’s superior to it, such as one piece.
