Wellz said it best “We’ve never had a season like this” exactly, you guys have never had a anime season like this unless you were experiencing and watching the Big3 in 2010 which was the complete polar opposite in every conceivable way to 2020 in terms of how the world was. Also Pat, stand by your truth, if you feel like Black Lagoon is better than even AOT and possibly better than anything else then stand by that shit, I feel the same way about JoJos Golden Wind (although there’s more evidence to that than just feelings) That’s nostalgia/bias/Fanboyism shattering quality since my favorite series of all time will always be DragonBall (not including Super), but compared to JoJos Golden Wind? Nothing anime matches it in quality consistency and plot and probably won’t for a long time to come.

It’s the 3D CGI mixed with 2D for the action scenes that’s bothering you, honestly I feel the same way, everything else looks beautiful especially when there’s not too much motion but once the action starts getting revved up and into gear, the characters look wonky. Also don’t worry, there is character development beyond Simpitry.

@ENG trust me I know there has to be depth because of certain panels and etc I know about without context. The backgrounds are beautiful and up there with this new season of Bleach. Power just standing there was weird to me and only served to get denji hyped for boobs. Last episode she was shown to be so much more. There could be a story there so I guess Edit: My fiance already doesn't care at all to watch this show and she is one to be into newer anime along with loving the oldies. I'm honestly trucking along to be able to discuss it.

I mean what is so different between these scenes and jjk or early jojo's? All the guy does is turn into chainsaws and get gory. Jojo's has done things like this as well and newer animes like jjk demon slayer etc.

Well there’s this new trio group dubbed “Dark Shonen” and it refers to JJK, CSM and Hell’s Paradise (which hasn’t been animated yet), they’re all NewGen Shonen series that are darker than the norm and can be argued to be more mature but in terms of overall quality it really just depends on their anime and whether you think NewGen is better than OldGen/OGs but I wouldn’t compare them to any of the OGs outside of just being darker/grittier in pacing. Aside from that, DS is completely carried by Ufotable as it’s far simpler and generic than even what the anime presents it as. And you’re right, early JoJos pretty much already did that anyways before anybody else, It also started the whole Shonen with Seinen elements. It’s just that this season stands out simply cause of how many anime variety there is for people to watch.

Muzon injecting his blood into that girl in the alley was pretty gruesome. The temari girl death was as well. The whole rui arc was pretty decent blood wise. Rengoku got donuts and then the whole uzui arc and village getting destroyed by battle is pretty cool. Jojo's deserves best gruesome bizarre scenes of all time imo. I'm not a chainsaw manga reader so I'm hoping for more and not trying to sound like a hater just calling it as I see it. Nothing to diverse to really pull me in so far

DS has it’s dark moments but they’re not as common as the rest of them. The overall story is far too simple and generic to be praised for anything else outside of just the animation, which means in the manga it’s just the familiarity with it’s dark moments that pulls people in.

the crazy people in these comments baffle me. THis season is one of the best seasons of anime in a while. we have spyxfamily, bleach, CSM, Mob Psycho finale, MHA(best arc in the manga) and To your eternity. Really good season
