Like everyone else was saying, y'all should definitely check out Kill La Kill after this. It'll be a great follow up plus its animated by the same studio who did Gurren Lagann and by the same creator. I'm sure yall will love it

People are going to be spamming watch the movies but the show is way better. The movies keep characters alive and instead of being subtle about the symbolism they shove it right in your face. The final fight does have better animation and some really cool sequences though. At the end of the day maybe just watch that.

One of the GOATS right here. This is what anime is all about right here, all distilled down to a perfect 26 (1 Recap) episodes with no fluff or bullshit. From the underground to the heavens! The main trope is a classic trope in storytelling; Overpopulation and what effects it will have down the line. But they executed it better than any other stories I've come across. Even in our world this is an ongoing thing, and even in our world there exists people like the anti-spirals, that think they got it figured out (god complex, eugenics, etc) and think it's up to them to decide and control the fate of humanity/everyone. It's wild and interesting when you think about it. Like everyone else said, watch at least the final movie, because you're fans of anime and the animation is godlike, and for the final fight which I agree, is much better executed. And Parallel Works #8 and #9. PW is a bit harder to find, at least on YouTube, so you may have to torrent it. Also, watching anime with Jerry must be mad annoying holy shit.

Jerry and Rob are both right. Yeah you can be sad because of so much that you lost, but you can also be happy thanks to how much you've gained. They lost a lot of friends, Simon and Yoko lost lovers, but they saved and freed an entire universe under the Anti-Spiral's thumb, and you damn right I would take some form of happiness in that. That's why it's a bittersweet ending. Not fully bitter, and not fully sweet. It's true the Anti-Spirals said spiral energy will end the universe one day, but that's fine when you think about it. Pat said it earlier in the reaction, that all things come to an end eventually. Just because spiral energy will end the universe doesn't mean its bad, same way living means you're going to die one day, but that doesn't mean its a bad thing.
