I know that most people take rudy for dumb in this situation, but that is mainly because the anime portrays this menacingly. Orsted was casually asking, and answering questions so rudy felt comfortable. Also Rudy did answer to the man god because he thought he could finally talk to somebody about it. He himself also distrusts the man god, but he didn't know on what type of timing orsted was on when it came to the question. Because even when rudy told him his family orsted responded like kinda like whatever. It's kinda like if you have a conversation with somebody they casually answer and then all of sudden they ask you hey do you know this guy then just shoot you before you can properly respond. Also for the record Rujierd didn't tell him don't say anything he said don't move. I also think it's because of the build up of showing the result at the start of the episode so people are already wary of orsted. Where as in the light novel there is no build up just orsted shows up beats the crap out of them and leaves.

Just so you guys know, the Seven Great Powers being called gods is more of a rank for the power (I don't know about the man god though) and skill more so than them actually being gods. They can still be killed although it would be difficult to do so. I believe the ranks are beginner, elementary, intermediate, advanced, saint, king, emperor and god. The SGP are all god rank, meaning they are the best individual in their field of power. At this point in the story, Eris is at Advanced rank in sword god style (one of 3 fighting styles with the sword), Rudeus at Saint in terms of magic (he has learnt up to saint level, the spell he attacked Orsted with could be considered at a higher rank because he improves his spells with knowledge from old life). Anyone else reading can add extra info to this that's obviously not spoilers. And most of your questions in this reaction will be answered in a season 3 if this anime keeps doing 6 light novel volumes per season.

Bro if someone tells you to not move that's an indication that something is up so Rudy trying to talk to him is him not reading the situation. Even if Rudy felt like there wasn't any danger he should've picked up on how Ruijerd and Eris was acting and not say much.

Hell even in the anime he casually gives rudy his name etc. He was talking as if he just knew rujierd as some kind of friend, he wasn't being malicious. The main point is let's say you want to know about a incident like the mana calamity or maybe you travelling and you wanna know the route. Said person you ask casually gives name, gives questions and answers them, etc. How would you possibly predict that the person is gonna put his hand IN YOUR CHEST? before you can even answer upon the last question. when the entire time he casually gave answers and questions to you normally. I mean Rujierd looked like a bad guy at first but rudy talking to him helped him out and they became friends. If rudy took just the superd vibe of rujierd at face value he would have never befriended rujierd just saying.

I can't say much about how it went down in the novels but your friends tell you not to move a muscle and are visibly shaking just from someone's presence you have to know realize that person is bad news, especially if Ruijerd is the one to tell you that. Even if there's a chance that person isn't bad it's safer to not engage with them but Rudy was just ignoring those signs and went ahead to try and ask him questions.

Also Rudy is asking questions and trying to learn more information because he literally just had conversations with Paul about Rudy not finding out enough information and asking enough questions about what is going on, Rudy is thinking he could possibly get info to find his mother from someone so obviously important

@Lawlach So in order to find that information you ask someone that you're friends are visibly scared of and caused a cow to jump head first into its death? Rudy needs to be able to read the situation instead of pushing through with his agenda cause even though he needs to get that information it shouldn't be at the cost of their lives.

The studio was actually created just to make this anime and the staff has a very deep understanding and passion bathe light novels which are this shows’ source material.

@Devin B But again how would you know it be the cost of their lives. Rujierd being scared doesn't mean somebody is gonna instantly die. Again eris was scared of rujierd and he turned out to be fine. If Orsted came of as threatening then rudy would not have continued the conversation. It's because orsted gave his name, answered questions. He even knew where rudy came from so if he had some kind of grudge he could have responded to it when he said his dad was paul. But he didn't he also didn't talk threatening towards eris and rujierd. In Fact when you see him fight rujierd he carefully breaks rujierd down without hurting him. He gives him a hit in the solar plexus, then the chin then the temple. He carefully knocks Rujierd out without hurting him at all. Where as in with rudy the first thing he does is crush his lungs so he can't chant. Eris he kinda just counters but he also shows no intent to hurt her and even comments about her potential. Also Orsted seemed like he knew a lot he knew rujierd and eris, why would you not ask this guy. When he casually gives his name and gives questions back. If there was anyone to ask for info about the mana calamity and possibly your mom it probably be somebody that displays to be VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE in the first seconds you talk to them.

@Angelo It's the fact that Ruijerd of all people told Rudy to not move a muscle. That should've been the first sign that something was wrong cause if the strongest person on your team is acting scared towards someone like that that should've told you maybe this isn't the best time to ask questions despite that person not acting menacing and appearing to have a lot of knowledge.

The first spell rudy used in the last exchange, i believe was just him making an object rotate as fast and be as hard as possible. Essentially the strongest drill. The 2nd large spell was a concentrated fireball done over and over with enough power to rival a large bomb. To give you an idea of how beefy Orsted is to eat that.

A 2nd season has been confirmed, but no release date yet. But this is the only anime the studio who makes it is working on, so hopefully it will come sometime late next year

Terms like technique god, or dragon god doesn't necessarily mean they are actually gods, just that they are the strongest in that field or style. Ghislaine who's a Sword King mentioned already that she was trained by Gal who the Sword God meaning he's the highest level of 1 of the 3 sword styles but that doesn't actually mean he's a god. The 7 great powers are just the strongest people currently in the world so somebody can be at god level but that doesn't mean they're strong enough to be a great power. Right now Eris is at Sword advanced while Rudy is a Water Saint, so they got a long way too go.

@Devin B But then is there a best time if somebody is not menacing and knowledgeable? It's not like his mom hasn't been missing for years. Like time is running out it's better to be save then sorry rudy has no idea where his mom is on the ENTIRE WORLD. Also people have been enslaved or they died during the calamity so it's better to get info as fast as possible and from somebody knowledgeable. There is never a time to not ask in a situation where your mom could be not alive or enslaved or whatever. If it's not now then when. What if he knew i mean he was knowledgeable enough to know about paul and his children, about eris, about rujierd. Why would you not ask him? If he knows something about the mana calamity.

@Chrisna 1311 nah he's right about the light novels. There was no preview that they got clapped like the beginning of the episode, so the reader had no inclination as to what was going to happen/to be wary of the guy. Eris and Ruijerd were scared/cautious, but that wasn't cause to not talk to the person. The same way Rudy and Eris were scared of Ruijerd when they first met him but ended up as best friends with him. Angelo is perfectly correct, Orsted was having a regular convo with Rudy in the novel and there was nothing intimidating about him. Only part that genuinely seemed odd was the cow jumping off the cliff

Studio bind was created just to adapt this. It's a mix of people from 2-3 different studios that all read the Light Novel for this story and had such a passion for it that they wanted to animate it. Wellz if you end up wanting to read it, do NOT read the manga, the manga is adapting the "Light Novel" which is the actual source material (technically the Web Novel is, but the Light Novel is the english translation and is way more fleshed out with extra details and chapters), but terribly. Out of all 4 adaptations of it, the manga is by far the worst. Season 2 is confirmed, no date yet though. They plan to animate the entire story so it should be around 5 seasons long.
