Uhh no Patric, Cowboy Bebop is the same as Samurai Champloo lol. If you guys didn't like this show much, you won't like Cowboy Bebop much either. Both of the shows are episodic in nature, meaning they are more about the journey than the end goal. In Cowboy Bebop, there are several one off episodes, only thing is I would say Cowboy Bebop has a better overall ending lol. The same for Space Dandy, all 3 of the shows are episodic, the journeys are very sporadic and all over the place because you're meant to care more for the characters than story. They're all good series depending on what you're into, but I can guarantee you won't like Cowboy Bebop if you didn't like Samurai Champloo. I will say that Cowboy Bebop is a bit more concise than Samurai Champloo though, but not by a ton. I think that episodic shows aren't you guys cup of tea, its more about the journey in shows like this, there's nothing wrong with you guys not being into that though. Glad you guys got to see it though!

Knew it. They wanted characters to die. Same complaint with FMAB (except people did die in that in the end) Its the difference between Lord of the Rings and Game of Throne fans "its not realistic enough" cause people dont die enough in LotR. SMH? The point of the show is the journey more than the destination technically. Its like Cowboy the point it most of the show is semi episodic with hints of a overall story. Your supposed to just enjoy the characters and their interactions not always need to railroad the goal. Yeah TBH if yall didnt feel this yall wont like the GOAT Cowboy

I like the ending, I think it ends off well and if they both died it wouldn’t have been resolved all the way to me. I feel like it’s not even the story it’s the journey, it’s top tier because you don’t have to like it all and you can pick up on it when ever….you could watch this out of order and it’s still hard

Honestly from my perspective they died multiple times. For example episode one where they show the restaurant burning, then it cuts to them alive and captured. Then they miraculously survive a gang of people that nearly killed them, only because of Fuu. The journey they had seems like a second chance over and over to be something different. The end definitely seems like they died… Mugen is no way in hell getting away from that blast, and Jin is not surviving that hit he got in his back. It seems like the ending is really off how they go separate… seems like its because they are dead

Same, one of the issues Wellz had with One Piece originally, shows that are journey vs destination focused they seem to not care about. Its when the plot started kicking in harder that they started enjoying it. Thats why what Pat said about Cowboy bebop made no sense to me until he said he "looked up a list of best episodes" he skipped most of the journey.

I think the dub harmed their enjoyment of the series. The important difference between sub and dub isn't just the sound of voice acting, but the meaning that is communicated. If you're going to watch a series that is a celebration of Japanese culture in English, don't be surprised when a lot of the meaning gets strongly diluted and/or lost. If what I've written sounds too airy, a more concrete statement would be that fuu's character in the dub is inferior to the sub version which gives her a more mature but still wild personality.

Honestly I'm confused cause whenever they would watch an ep they would be hyped for it but just the ending (which wasn't even bad) made them think of this show as mid. They really don't appreciate this show for what it is.

This is not a good idea. Watching it in sub makes no sense for them because the subbed version uses a pretty similar script and they don't know Japanese so how would they know the nuanced differences in Japanese? Please think about it

Yeah I understood that, but the thing is Champloo wasnt exactly all that realistic either, only in its themes did it really do so. But outside of that, alof of characters were over the top and many sequences and events just hella impossoble. I just dont think they really saw the bigger picture in what the trio's journey meant and were just looking for some rather dark and somber ending, when it wouldnt have really made sense & pretty much negate all the show had been buidling up

nah they just don't like shows that are more character/anthology based. They prefer plot heavy and focused shows. its why cowboy bebop, most of part 3 of jojo and couple other series would be hell. any shows thats about the journey more than the destination would be terrible for them

The main character you speak of is an entirely different case than Mugen or Jin however. The former had been dancing with death for quite a while, meanwhile the latter both finally found something moe to life than themselves. Characters dying does not suddenly make an ending better. Both are great, but I hate when people compare the two cause the situations and themes the shows tackle are both entirely different

I understand their dislike of the ending. Which built up to characters sacrificing themselves to die for a cause rather than themselves. The episodic nature only seems to appeal to them when they really like the characters or if it's comedic. Which worked for them with early One Piece but even then Wells was struggling to give attention to the story.

I think musical styles play a big part in the execution and episodic format of the likes of Samurai and Bebop. new age jazz and low fidelity hip-hop. Nature and Change. Each episode plays out like a song. And that obviously doesn't appeal to the majority of them even though it appeals to a lot of us as anime fans.
