They were talking about retiring before the Spring Tournament because prep for the tournament and the tournament itself occurs around the time that third years should be studying for university entrance exams. As such, many third years opt out of the tournament and focus on that instead. Also, Seijoh lost to Shiratorizawa in the finals. The dude who was talking about Nationals before was talking about his own team for a different sport.

Okay I have not seen anyone explain. The spring tournament is held in each region. The winner of each region goes to national. And the best teams from every region plays in nationals. There are two qualifying tournaments for nationals every year.

Also there are two tournaments in the year, the Interhigh and the Spring High. They lost in the preliminaries for the Interhigh, but the preliminaries for the Spring High is coming up in the late fall. The results of the Interhigh gets you seeded in the Spring High, but there is still a qualifying tournament.

You can appreciate different teams for their skill. Nothin wrong with liking multiple teams, there's plenty of characters outside of Karasuno that are great.

Just like any shonen anime if you watch a fight from the end of the show and compare it to a fight at the beginning of the show its almost laughable. you are right about the part that kageyama isnt ready. Kageyama has just started to change in this match but he isnt there yet. I mean someone like nishinoya or daichi are also far away from beeing ready but in that term they are far better developed as a player like kageyama is. Secondly here is something I kinda agree with rob. There loss was important for their development as a team. They needed a wake up call like that. But yeah the constant clash rob has with the other boys makes the enjoyment worse

So highschool is 3 years in Japan. First year is 10th grade, Second year is 11th grade, and Third year is 12th grade. So this is the last HIGHSCHOOL year for the upper classman (Suga, Daichi, Asahi, and Kiyoko). They graduate after this. Noya and Tanaka are second years, meaning 11th grade. The rest (except the background characters- which are second years) are first years. Hope that gives you some context~!

i agree that karasuno shouldn’t be winning this game because while seijoh has always been at the top of their game, karasuno has only started to revive to be the powerhouse they once were and only just started to work things out. that takes more of times than just a few weeks of training compared to a team as composed as their opponents. although i always rooted for karasuno to win, having watched the next seasons made me feel better that their loss was needed. one thing i don’t agree with rob is that they didn’t have the will to win and if they won would be on kageyama because that is just simply not true.

See here’s the thing. I am one of those people that absolutely loved the fact Karasuno lost this match because I saw the great potential it was going to have as a story decision. Rob is right when he says that they weren’t ready, it’s true, Seijoh is far more experienced as a team. However... to say that Karasuno didn’t have the WILL to win? Oh come on, you’re just trying to pain your own agenda. Kageyama is my favourite character, but even he by himself can’t do shit. If he could, he wouldn’t have been shunned by the rest of his team back in middle school. Anyways can’t wait for season 2, hopefully you guys don’t waste time arguing with Rob and just enjoy the amazing matches 🤣

At this point, the best karasuno player is Nishinoya so it doesnt make sense for Rob to say Kageyama ready but not the rest of the team. They lost this game because the team wasn’t ready as a whole, everyone made mistakes. Kageyama made mistakes throughout this game just like all the other players. He doesn’t need to be put on a pedestal.
