If you want to shit talk Hank you've got to shit talk Gomez. He's not a dumb guy, he's smart and capable as fuck. This is what the blame game does, you have to reduce a competent, intelligent character to a brainless lapdog in order to blame Hank. Gomez wasn't going against his better judgement - neither of them could have known. As far as they were concerned, they'd taken down a mass murdering meth dealer, and you gotta remember that's what Walt is, however much you like his character.
