Real hyped for the GI arc! you might not like it as much as the yorknew arc which i'd understand tbh but its really important cuz gon and killua will really develop their Nen to the next level here in preparation for the next arc.

Famalam

Personally, I don't think the movies are as good as the show but to each their own, I guess.

Cinya

Those PT kills were not Mafia. Also he mentioned it only once after killing Uvogin but using Emperor Time consumes a lot of stamina. Kurapika was sick because he used it too long.

This arc is a little tough to get through in my opinion. The last half is fire but the first half is really slow. BUT it’s the last part of the show that isn’t 10/10, just gotta make it through the next 8 or so episodes.

Jjj.

this arc gets a lot of shit, but in my opinion its just bc is in the middle of two of the best arcs in anime, ever. Either way, if you pay a lot of attention to the details and follow closely the way the game works, its an amazing arc. A little slow at the beginning but the climax is fire

JD

I love this arc and my least favourite chunk of the anime is much later so is there really any point trying to advise these guys on the enjoyability of something so subjective? Let them experience it without these warnings and expectations looming over them lol

Jjj.

(sorry for the doble coment) but guys I really advise you to rewatch the explanations of the game, or at least one of you do it and then tell the others, so you don´t get lost in this arc, I promise you will enjoy it 100% times better that way :D

Yeah this arc was tough to get through because it's definitely slower than Yorknew but it's necessary because you see Gon and Killua improve their fighting and nen abilities by leaps and bounds. There are really enjoyable/hilarious moments in this arc too though.

Maybe Spoilers, but I dont think so, I was pretty vague, and I didnt even mention the names or anagrams of the future arcs, or the names of people and other stuff introduced this arc too, I mean this comment should be fine to read, but I wanted to give a warning just in case. Also, yeah, once u understand how the game works, which isnt too hard, its even more fun, u just have to pay attention somewhat. I agree I love this arc, and think its really good and important. Its kinda like how the early arcs dont get as much as respect as they should, just because the series gets better, those early arcs were good in their own right, maybe not as good as later ones, but still good, plus without them, we wouldnt have the rest of the series, so yeah I dont like arcs getting downplayed. Plus, a lot of the stuff that comes up and is foreshadowed in early arcs play a part in later ones. Seriously though GI is important, esp. when it comes to developing and training Nen abilities and improving their own fighting styles (mainly for Gon and Killua). Its also important for developing Gon and Killua as characters and learning more about them, and their relationship develops a lot during this arc. I dont think a lot of the stuff that happens later on, esp. with Killua and Gon, would be as emotionally impactful as it was without this arc. Its a little slow at 1st, but I still find the slower parts fun and interesting, plus the colors and overall atheistic of GI is gorgeous and I just love how GI looks, and seeing them train is fun and makes their actual growth feel earned, but also I think this arc has a good build up, climax(s) and then wrap up, this arc is good, one of my favs. and does its job well, just because its isnt as thematically important (though it still has some very interesting and good themes and deeper meanings as well) as YN or the next arc(s) after this one, or as quick paced as YN doesnt mean it isnt good. Seriously it annoys me that slowness is equated to badness, this arc isnt even that slow, it actually could have done with 1 or 2 more episodes early on, though for the most part I think the pacing is great. For one thing the next arc has a lot of build up, and I honestly dont think the next arc would be as good without that build up and slower moments and getting to know characters more, (Killua and Gon, some others), both old and new, and getting really invested. Seriously though, I hope they enjoy GI and understand its importance (for one thing without the training of this arc, they probably would have been in really, really bad shape for the next arc), plus its just a fun time. Plus the author really put a lot of effort to make a working card game, and think he should be lauded for it, and as a mostly training arc, it does its job perfectly, even better than HA. I dont like people seeing it as a bad arc, when its not, just because its sandwiched between 2 that would be considered masterpieces. I see GI has a more fun, light arc, that gives us a breather from the YN arc, and gives us some fun and happiness before the next coming arc(s), which I think is very much needed (though there is still stakes in this arc). Plus, we get introduced to a character I love this arc, I love their dynamic with Gon and Killua, esp. Killua, its so funny. :) But yeah, I think this arc is very enjoyable and fun, that has great hype and badass moments, lots of development for characters and relationships, nen abilities, fighting styles, and really great use of planning and strategies for the card game aspects, fights, and "fights". This arc is really just a feels good, good time, though there is some messed up parts in it, so just sit back and enjoy it. Sorry about this mini rant to the person Im replying to I just think earlier arcs, and esp. this arc (and maybe even the last arc, which is also really good and emotional, and I like it more then some earlier arcs too) deserve more credit, because I think they are all great arcs. I myself have favs., but I also see each of the other arcs as good as well. :)

I can understand why but I disagree and this is where I caught up when it was coming out so I only got to watch 1 a week. I was always fiending for more. Even on rewatches I like the arc. Definitely not even top 3 but I like it more than the Exam and Zoldyck family mini arc.

The gang should switch to Crunchyroll subs. Now honestly the subs they currently use are not the best translation and can lead to misunderstandings such as the line about Kurapika "we don't want Kurapika to kill anymore" being replaced by " we don't want him to be a murderer " which literally lead to the gang being like he already a murderer which was not the intent of the original statement.

Not sure if someone mentioned it under the full length reactions comment section, but a few episodes one of you guys mentioned that hunter x hunter is still on-going in the manga. Just wanted to tell you guys that the full 148 episodes of this show is like a book; its a COMPLETE story with a satisfactory ending that leaves you wanting more. At the manga equivalent of episode 148 the author went on a hiatus for a long time. He has since come back and started the story up again, but rather than picking up where the last left off its more like the beginning of a new story, in my opinion. TLDR: you all won't be mad when you are done watching this show, ITS OK.

Jeremiah

No... 148 set's up the next arc... it's 100% not a new story... it's the beginning of the "real" story. Everything so far is just learning about the world and Nen... We only really stop learning about Nen after GI... CA only introduce a few smaller concepts and Final arc shows us what goes beyond normal... The anime is legit just the tutorial and if Togashi wasn't always sick HxH would have an many chapters as One Piece...

Where’s the full reaction?

I know I'm mad late but I just want to clear something up for Pat about killua lightning nen aura. He's not "absorbing" the electricity. Hes a transmuter and is able to make his Aura take on the property of other substances/elements. Like how Hisoka turns his into rubber with Bungie Gum. Killua goes with electricity because he understands how electricity feels and moves and is able to replicate it and withstand the pain because it was a part of his training when he was younger. This also means his Aura is also hurting him every time he uses it btw. Just wanted to fill anyone in since I don't thing the anime ever really goes into it, but the manga does.
