Fitz' objective was to plant the tracker; he has ZERO combat training. Skye has some combat training, but at this point she's so driven to prove herself and catch him, that she put herself into a dangerous position (Ward is to blame, for not training her properly to know when she's out of her depths, and not take risks). Fitz was doing his part, planting the tracker under the car. give him time; he's trained to be the tech guy, not the field/combat guy
