See, thing about Shane is he a psycho, but he's right a lot. He aint a good guy, but his mind is already in apocalypse mode before everybody else

I get Shane's trying to be practical and realistic about things but let's be honest, if Sophia was his daughter, I highly doubt he'd be this insistent on moving on. With that said, I think Shane does want to protect this group, but it doesn't seem like he really cares for all the people in it (with the exception being Rick, Lori and Carl). He's not like Rick in that way. Rick not only wants to protect everyone in the group, but he actually cares for everyone in it.

about sofia running off, rick told her to hide. BUT he also said if he wasnt back in 10 min she should run back to the group. he told her too keep the sun on her right shoulder and run. and thats what she ended up doing, BUT she ran off way too soon.
