I think you meant to post this yesterday

Another one of my favorite episodes. The ending both pisses me off and is yet satisfying. Zuko has been finding out through experience about the Fire Nation's true colors and is being humbled. The thing that blew me is, he's already shown humility and tried not to impose in the first place. But because of the family's insistence and his own compassion he stayed - and even helped out. The townspeople's mentality reminded me of the Freedom Fighters' mindset: Fire Nation = evil, which is what most governments/rulers want their citizens to have about "the enemey" in a war. It also didn't help that he declared himself the heir to the throne lol But I get where he's coming from. Adrenaline was pumping, PTSD flashbacks, and his life on the line - it was most likely a coping mechanism to ground himself in the fight. If you couldn't tell by this long monologue, Zuko is my favorite character 🤦🏾‍♀️

I don't know if you guys already knew this, but the real reason Ursa went missing is basically because of Azulon. Ozai tried to make the case that Iroh was too weak to lead because he changed after losing his son, so Azulon threatened to do the same to Zuko to teach Ozai a lesson. I think what's implied is that Ozai would do it because he hates Zuko (lol) so Ursa prevented it from happening but was subsequently either murdered or banished. I've forgotten which one.

Fire Nation has wrecked their lives with the war for 100 years, and now the family suffered tragedy with their son's capture in the battle. It has become personal now. It is understandable that his mum was protective of his son, and the boy hated Zuko after that. I was shocked at their reaction initially, but then it made sense. It was a very human reaction.
