They’re gypsies - well they come from gypsies so they believe in spirits, signs/dreams, curses and all things like that because it’s part of their culture it’s not just for “tv drama”. They already told us in S1 that they’re gypsies so this is just diving deeper into their beliefs, because yes Polly is a woman of God however she is also gypsy so it goes hand in hand for her.
