Natsu and Gray were going through it this arc. Imagine having to watch your dad die right in front of your eyes...For a second time in Gray's case. And in Natsu's case after searching for him for seven years. Also, magic is literally their life force.. It's literally entwined into their bodies (they've said this like a bunch of times). So it actually hurts them if they lose it.. And good on Jerry for letting them know about the end credits next episode.

Definitely far from one of the best, but it's solid. Only because of two characters though. And to be fair, everything gets explained in the series proper anyway. That said it's a fun prequel and not really any reason to skip it. It's integrated into the show anyway, so they've probably already started on it.

@REFORMED They actually were mostly mixture of Main villains and rotating characters that were important to moving the plot in arcs. The straw man here you don't care about the show in the first place doesn't mean they weren't relevant characters to the show.... You can't dislike the show then try to debate the relevance of the characters with in the world of the show.

just catching up with the reactions and would like to say alot of these unnecessary flashbacks dont happen in the manga for example the Erza scene replaying, flashbacks right before someone wins a fight etc. the animation studios are just putting extra garbage in possibly because the anime was catching up to the manga at the time.
