I was just doing a quick run through of the commission submissions this round and I'll be sending messages shortly, but as I've seen some recurring trends in the submissions I thought this might be a good chance to talk about why some ideas get rejected, or may not be chosen over others.

If I could message each individual with why their idea wasn't taken up without it adding more work to my pile I would, but a lot of the time it's just a matter of me not having space. Still, here are some things that have been on my mind the past few batches:

  • I've been receiving a lot more interest recently. Up until this year I had maybe 5-6 people commissioning me semi-frequently, but in the past half year I think the number of individuals has been bumped up to nearly 20 semi-regular customers and I tend to receive 40+ ideas per batch to go through. I wish I could consistently accept commissions from everyone every batch, but unfortunately more than 16 stories per batch is outside of my means.

  • I write some TF types more infrequently than others. I don't mind writing animal and inanimate TFs here and there, but my bread and butter is twinning / mtf / ftf / character-to-character transformation and I will usually pick those over things like animal or inanimate. I will write them here and there so I'm not saying don't send those ideas in because there's a chance I will, but I wanted to give some context about why these ideas might not get selected as often.

  • If your reference images are already drawn pieces of TF art, I will likely not select them unless you have permission from the original artist. The TF content community (and especially the English speaking side) isn't huge and I don't necessarily want to risk stepping on the toes of any of my peers if I can help it by using their works without permission.

  • Remember if you want a self-insert commission you need to keep the subject vague. I don't mind vague details (things like them being a student) or their gender, but specifics like a name or appearance I won't accept. There isn't a very deep reason for this, but creatively I have a hard time writing first person content if I'm restricted to someone else's image (which is why the only first person content with a named character tends to be my own self insert).

  • Sometimes I will take a break from certain series and that might be why I don't take an idea. For example, this round I won't be taking any FFXIV content in anticipation of there being a lot next batch once I allow Dawntrail-related stories. I'll try to mention it in the commission post when this happens (but I didn't think about it until today in this case).

  • I've had some people ask me if Hisa, my TF OC, can be used in commissions. That's fine! I'll let you know if it would be out of character in the scenario you designed if you want to use her and work with you to adjust it if need be.
