...and it's a Full Of Beef starring Nova Guynés

Nova turned to me the other day and asked with an indignant fury as to why I've never dedicated a pod to Guy Fawkes. I opined that that was a bizarre question and that her surprise was entirely unfounded because honestly, who the hell cares about Guy Fawkes? Then it dawned on me how weird the whole concept of Bonfire Night is and how it is only celebrated in the UK - so I told her to immediately stop researching it and we'll try to go in completely blind to discuss what the hell it even is.

This episode features some dodgy sound for the first 10 minutes but we think we managed to curtail it.

Great pod! I had no real concept of who Guy Fawkes was (American BTW) so this was really interesting. I have been catching up finally on the recent pods and wanted to mention a couple movies that I think might interest you, Blackwell Ghost on Amazon video. It is a 5 part series of movies (so far) that are very much inspired by Paranormal Activity and general ghost hunting shows/movies. All practical effects, very simple setup but over the whole series it feels incredibly real. Real to the point that there are articles online and reddit forums discussing if it is or not. The director/writer/star even goes as far as to have a FB page dedicated to people helping him solve the mysteries between films. Another quick mention is Bad Ben, not particularly good but funny since it is a haunting movie with surveillance footage but the main character is trying to flip the house and is just more annoyed than anything that the ghost is fucking up his investment and has no time for the bullshit. Anyway sorry for the long comment and lastly wanted to say how impressed Caitlin and I were with your Char Halloween film, we enjoyed the shit out of it!

I used to love history when I was a kid so it all kind of stuck, its surprising how graphic they were in the details. Was giggling at you two working your way through the timeline of events though. While V for Vendetta is an entertaining movie, its a bit bleak and on the nose for right now. I don’t know if that means you should or shouldnt watch it. We used to call it Guy Fawkes, but I think it was the last few dredges of the guy tradition. I havent seen anyone with a guy for years. Great pod as always!

Nova's "well intentioned terrorist" line got me thinking of that one bit of gogglebox https://pics.me.me/we-all-like-a-bad-boy-dont-we-boys-yeah-43767158.png

The fact that the word guy could come from Guy Fawkes makes me feel like everything in my life is a lie haha. With the amount of name changing he goes through in the story I feel like hes trying to get new free trials on Netflix by putting on a fake mustache haha

We have always had it as a thing where I grew up in Australia.

I have a weirdly specific memory of being in our Year 2 outhouse building and doing a Bonfire Night history worksheet. I woulda been like what 6? Why tf were we learning about this at 6, it was likely all simplified and sugarcoated at that age to get us on the side of the monarchy lol probably one of the reasons why I knew bugger all about the specifics and had a lovely time hearing you go through it all, great pod, love ya dolls x

Hello!! I’m listening a touch late. Long week. But if you love great twist endings, I’ll recommend Slasher.it’s a series on Netflix and Shudder. It’s the traditional who did it murder mystery….but mixed with Halloween, Friday the 13th, and twist endings!! Each season is a different story. My family calls me the murder nerd I can mostly figure out the killer. But these had me like what the huh?!? Highly recommended!!! 👻,

Dearest Olympia, I've been going through a really sad and traumatic time recently and have been listening to your back catalogue of full of its and they've given me such comfort and escape - thank you xx I've just been listening to the Christine McConnell episode and you mentioned Autumn's idea about a digital drag stars in their eyes, you said you might consider it in the future. 14 months on can I just say for the record that this would be amazing!! Also a parody of Christine would be epic, please please please. Lastly why I'm going through my list of requests (lol) please please finish It takes two. I watch one of the two videos at least every other day! Thank you again for all the content you put out in the world, right now you are my favourite coping mechanism and I think the world of you both xxxx

I really enjoy history and I really enjoy the girls and hearing you two talk about random history is my favorite! But what I find fascinating I found was the idea of a holiday celebrating the demise of a failed arsonist. But hell we in America have a holiday devoted to pulling out of fucking groundhog who apparently can see his own shadow and if he does it means there’s three or four more weeks of winter or some shit. Honestly fireworks in mid November sound a lot cooler than exploiting and harassing a poor animal for a metaphysical answer of the weather😂😂 can’t wait for next week!

Loved the pod! I love all of them though, with Beef, without Beef, they’re all great and wildly entertaining! I wanna second Lynsey’s request to see more It Takes Two. They’re gloriously long live streams and that poor girl needs her parents back!
