Act 31
Mel
When Mel returned to his own world, feelings of hunger hit him like a brick wall. As the portal closed behind him he fell on his knees, moaning.
Oops, we mightâve been in there for too long, Lusje remarked.
âOh god, it hurts so much,â Mel squeezed out between his teeth.
Just eat something, for fuckâs sake.
The snake didnât have to tell him twice. Because he felt like he couldnât wait a second longer, he just grabbed plain bread and orange juice to clench the nightmarish sensation. One bottle of juice and about 8 pieces of toast later, only after the hunger swapped over from âdeadlyâ to âunbearableâ, he found something a little more civilized to munch down on. Apples, some instant noodles, and some tea to fight against the surging stomach pains followed suit.
Only when absolutely nothing would fit inside anymore and the food started to push back up his throat, he stopped.
Though he was still hungry, the pain was now manageable.
However, his hunger problem had transformed into something else: He felt unbearably full. His lungs became squished into the size of a pair of fists, while the waistband of his pants cut into his skin. Even though Mel was wearing two pairs of strong shapewear pants, his stomach stuck out so far that his shirt stressed and clanged together at the buttons, like little arms holding on for dear life. He felt incredibly sick, mentally and physically.
For the future, kid, I suggest that, instead of just eating a lot, you focus on eatinâ food rich in energy and calories an all that shit. Stuff thatâs quick to eat, like thick soups, protein shakes, nuts and other things like that. Maybe even a bar of butter if⊠well, no, when things go downhill again.
Mel felt too weak to answer, too sick to think about food ever again. He wanted to throw up, but he knew that the hunger would become so bad again that he would have to force down something yet again. On top of all this, he hated his body. That hate weighed on him heavier than every other sensation.
He crawled to his many shopping bags and looked through them.
It⊠it wonât always be this bad, Mel, Lusje commented, seemingly feeling a little guilty. We just have to check times and find the right snacks for you. After an awkward pause, the demon asked, âŠWhat are you doing?
Mel felt unable to answer. Lusje would find out in a moment anyway. He pulled out a corset from one of the bags.
Holy shit, kid, no! the demon shouted in his mind, Donât be dumb, just take off your clothes and lay down.
No. Absolutely not. He couldnât bear seeing his own body like this. He wouldnât be able to think straight. Mel didnât care about the pain or breathing properly enough to change his mind.
Fuck, Lusje muttered while watching Mel put on the corset.
He never had worn a corset before, but he had helped his mother get into and adjust one when he was younger. Plus, the shop assistant already showed him the basics again. It was definitely easier when somebody helped you to get inside, but he managed on his own. Lusje wouldnât want to help him anyways.
When he felt an odd sensation of his arm suddenly being sort of lightweight, he knew that the snake had left his body and was somewhere around the room, probably watching him silently.
He pulled the strings tighter and tighter, until he felt somewhat flat again. Still massive - the corset couldnât magically reduce the weight - but at least his front was more even again. Albeit while having trouble breathing at all and moving properly. Thankfully, not much of these both things were needed when training.
He got through three more hours of training, then another small feast, then three more hours; All while the snake was observing him. Both of them didnât say a single word for the whole time.
When it was time for another meal, however, things stopped working out. He managed to chow down a little bit of food, but after only a few minutes, nothing fit inside him anymore. Mel tried to force it in, but it resulted in him throwing up in his mouth.
âYou canât fit anymore in while wearing this,â Lusje commented, unnecessarily.
For a while Mel just sat on the only chair in the room, contemplating his options, while his hunger pains grew. His stomach was getting noisier and noisier, it almost sounded like a sick, menacing animal.
Then it happened.
He felt something in his lower abdomen. Something that seemed to be causing the noises.
At first he thought it was a strong bowel movement, but the more time passed, the larger his hunger grew, the stronger the motions became.
He didnât understand, but he knew he had to eat. Mel tried to force down some more food again, and even managed to do so with all of his strength, but then he heard and felt a pop around his middle. He quickly unbuttoned his shirt to see that one of the strong metal hooks had lost its grip, because his belly was sticking out so much by now that the hooks connected diagonally, therefore not having a lot of grip anymore.
They wouldnât hold on much longer. Unless he might put them back together and maybe strengthen the ropesâŠ? He grabbed the corset on the bottom, right where the two sides met, and tried to twist them in such a way that the hooks connected again. It was a bad idea. In the process he unhooked two more connectors, and now the whole structure was so unstable that the whole corset popped open with such a strong force that it ripped out a part of the sewn in metal piece.
More terrifying than the shock of the ripping structure was the sight of what laid underneath. Both of his shapewear waistbands had given up on his body and curled down when the corset finally opened, revealing a whole mass of flesh protruding from Melâs body. He was fuller, bigger and rounder than ever before. He almost looked - he looked like ⊠No. No!
Mel ran into the little entrance area that featured a full body mirror. What he saw terrified him more than anything that happened in the last three days.
His exposed belly, firm and perfectly round, with an outside protruding belly button, didnât look just stuffed. It looked pregnant. Like six or even seven months along.
He looked closer and observed in sheer horror that the movements were even visible from the outside.
Mel couldn't take it anymore. He stumbled towards the garbage bin, fell on his knees and puked out everything he previously ate, plus what felt like the rest of his sanity. And hopefully the parasites, too.
After he was finally done, he sobbed uncontrollably.
He saw the snake coming at his side.
âDonât ⊠donât talk to me" he whispered.
The demon said nothing at first, but broke the silence eventually after all. âWhat did you think would happen? I told you I would put parts of me inside of you that would grow.â
âShut ⊠up âŠ.â Mel warned, or maybe even begged, âYou know exactly that you manipulated me, worded things so it wouldnât seem like Iâm actually pregnant.â
âWell. Yes. True. But you technically arenât.â
âOh ⊠godâŠ. Whatâs growing inside me?â
âDonât be dumb, Melchior,â the snake said, but made itâs crude words sound compassionate, âYou know.â
âItâs ⊠itâs the antichrist, right?â
The snake stared at him in complete shock.
Then it laughed.
âFuck me, your mind can be so incredible dark when youâre depressed and self-pitying, holy shit. No, kid, itâs just lesser demons. I told you about them when we first met.â
Somehow, that knowledge made him feel a little better. He remembered; The lesser demons werenât real physical beings like Lusje, but more without shape. Like pain or stuff like that. Though they certainly felt physical inside of him.
âThough usually they donât grow that quick. You mustâve eaten way more than you needed to. Or maybe itâs because your body doesnât know how to behave yet. Donât worry, weâll do it better next time.â
âNext timeâ? Mel started to cry again.
âShit, donât be like this. I told you power came with a price. I did not lie to you. Youâre not pregnant, and technically they are parasites. Ya learn to live with that in no time, believe me. I can heal you afterwards so you wonât have any postpartum issues or any of that shit. As a matter of fact, Iâll turn your body into an innocent little thing again, as if nothinâ ever happend, young and fresh. And as I said, I will charm people around ya so that they donât care about your middle anymore. Not in the slightest. Promise.â
âBut⊠I will care ⊠and even you said this is the most important partâŠâ
The snake went silent again. Mel felt its body behind him building up, warm and welcoming.
He felt betrayed, angry and fearful. But he also couldnât sense any ill intent emitting from the demon. And thatâs what Lusje was, after all, right? A demon. Not a saint. What did Mel expect? He really had been naive, hadnât he.
He didnât want to be at daggers drawn with the only being left that cared about him. Life was hard enough as it was. And growing actual demons in your body with a reasonable chance of success as an uprising magician beats death by a long shot. RightâŠ? So he took the peace offering and leaned back, weakly, into the snakeâs warm body.
âIâm so afraid,â Mel whispered, while enduring the hunger and painful motions inside him a little longer, for the sake of peace making.
âI can see that. But as long as you feed them, thereâs no need to. It will only be this scary once, because itâs new. Youâll get the hang of it quickly. And the upside is nice, right? Being so powerful.
Theyâll go as quickly as they came.â
With shaking hands, Mel tried to touch his tensely bloated gut, but he was unable to. âI .. I havenât even thought about them coming out yetâŠâ
âThe usual way.â
âOh god.â
âDonât worry. Itâs not as painful and slow as a human childbirth. They are mostly energy, after all. Their physical form is small. You wonât have intense labor pains as -â
âStop. Please. I ⊠I donât want to think about that right now.â
Lusjeâs tail handed him the bag of toast. âYes, you should focus on eating for now. We donât want them to overtake your body now, do we?â
Mel sobbed, but obediently took the bread and started to eat again, while Lusje pulled him a little closer.
