Hey my mateys!

Today I have another step by step post for you. βš“πŸŒŠβ˜
It portrays Mary Read and Anne Bonny, some of the few female pirates recorded in history. Most of the time they dressed as men, but sometimes they, quote, "displayed their breasts openly at all times during battle - mainly because men were distracted by them, and they took pleasure in killing said men while they were too busy staring at her breasts." There are also rumors that they were lovers, but who knows. 🌹

I would've loved drawing the clothes more loose so you can see the tiddies buuut I originally created this piece for an sfw anthology. Which you can still buy at my Etsy store btw! Here! But it's also available as a print. πŸ’™
I'm happy about this piece because it's so piratey. πŸ‘€ I tried to get inspired by these old drawings and paintings from pirates from 1700-1800.

I also posted a bunch of sketches for you where I brainstormed for poses and a picture composition. I juggled between many ideas and moods, I thought about a romantic calm scene at night on deck, or a attack on a different ship or fighting side by side. In the end, the mods of the anthology had to decide what to fits best and I went with their decision. Eventually Glasmond did her editing magic again to make it look more epic, and it became to be the version you see in the first pic.🌹

I think I would draw them a bit more differently today, maybe I would dare to do more.  Giving them more eccentric pirate clothes, going more wild, more diverse. Would love to try a second run on this concept. I wished I had more time and less injured right arms. 😀 *sigh*

Have a beautiful day my dears and stay safe!

Awww that makes me so happy to hear! πŸ˜πŸ’– Though pictures like this can be really really tough, it does feel super rewarding in the end. ✨
