Howdy!

It's been quiet on my end, but the good news is that just means everything is on schedule. The Stasis Bone Totem video is aimed for this Friday, which will be the last day I'm around before vanishing into the tundra a while. While that's been going, I've also gotten everything I need for a long overdue Ghost Master video ready to go for October, so when I get back all I'll need to do is get cracking on the actual editing of it. Only possible surprise with that could be the Complete Edition mod getting an update, but I'm making contact with the devs behind that to make sure there won't be any surprises, but if there are it'll just mean a slight readjustment in the lineup or an asterisk in the video somewhere. Complete Edition is great, but not a gigantic overhaul or anything, more just some restoration of cut content.

It's also that dark time approaching again where the Halloween video is beginning to brew. Truth be told, I have many candidates for these lined up to go on for the foreseeable future, but the order to put them in can be the snag. One such candidate I was pretty sure would be the one for this year, but that might end up getting pushed back for later depending on how things look. It can feel like a tricky balance between pulling out something haunting and bizarre and also something few have seen before, since there are LOTS of obvious fun picks like Dark Seed, Deadly Premonition and Harvester, but there are also some who were fairly notorious but just fell through the sands of time a bit like Ripper. I do play a good collection of adventure games at random, and I can tell you that many remain buried for a reason since there's not much noteworthy about them, but at the same time it can be incredibly hard to gauge which of them makes for good videos because they can feel like pure suffering while actually playing them. It just has to be the right kind of suffering, since it's easy to play something purely tedious and not entertaining or interesting from an outside bubble, so being able to kind of view it with that disconnect in mind can be a challenge. Ideally I might want to do a block of those kinds of videos one day for each week in October, though realistically that might mean a month or two without any in the fall before that depending on the time they take, and I know some people despise that format over the usual so I don't want that to mean a three month drought for them. The joys of a variety games channel are endless.

In any case, there's gonna be SOMETHING this year. I have a few candidate games fully recorded and I'm not close to running out, but time is a factor in what bits can be pulled off and what might need to be saved for another Halloween. No worries about it being "rushed" or anything either, as I was in a similar spot last year near the end of September before I decided it would be a good time to go forward with Ring. Just letting you know in case you all have any other candidates or input to throw in there.

As always, thanks so much for all your support!

I've always wondered why Grim Fandango, while widely beloved, hasn't gotten the massive video game essay coverage I'd expect. Idk I guess that's my pitch for it as a Halloween video.

Hol up, is this the skeleton in your German Skelly vid?

It's funny how like a decade ago I considered Deadly Premonition among the apex of weird games, but now after what you've covered for past Halloweens it feels like a comparative return to normalcy. Also Ripper would be a fun one, too. I still have some of Spoony's LP of it burned into my brain.
