It was late in the evening when the headlights of the truck finally swept across the Black Mansion’s driveway. Harry, who had been pacing restlessly near the window, felt a rush of relief mixed with lingering anxiety. He had never felt so unsettled, the hours dragging by as he waited for Teddy and Charlie to return safely.
When the truck finally came to a stop, Harry hurried outside, Hermione close behind him. The door opened, and a teenage girl with long brown hair carefully climbed out, carrying a sleeping Teddy on her shoulder with surprising gentleness. Her face showed a mixture of warmth and a quiet strength, despite her obvious shyness.
Hermione stepped forward, taking Teddy from the girl, who gave a small, tentative smile in return. "Thank you," Hermione murmured, glancing back to Harry, who was watching intently.
Charlie climbed out from the driver’s side, giving Harry a weary smile. “Sorry we’re so late. The drive took longer than expected, but I’d like you to meet my daughter, Isabella… or Bella, as she prefers.”
Harry nodded, his concern fading slightly as he extended a hand to Bella. “Welcome, Bella. I’m Harry Black, and this is Hermione. Please, both of you, come inside. You must be exhausted after the drive.”
Bella glanced around, clearly a bit overwhelmed by the grandeur of Black Mansion, but she shook Harry’s hand firmly. “Thank you for inviting us in, Mr. Black. I’ve heard a lot about your family from my dad.”
Harry chuckled softly. “It’s just Harry. And we’re glad you’re here.”
The four of them entered the mansion, the grand hall warmly lit and inviting. Hermione had already carried Teddy upstairs to settle him into bed, leaving Harry, Bella, and Charlie to settle in the cozy sitting room. As they took their seats, Harry noticed Bella’s gaze wandering, taking in every detail of the room, her curiosity evident despite her quiet demeanor.
"So, Bella," Harry began, smiling gently, "I hope your trip wasn’t too tiring."
Bella shook her head, a small smile appearing. “It was long, but it’s… really beautiful out here.”
Charlie nodded, giving Harry a grateful look. “Thanks for inviting us in, Harry. I don’t think Bella’s seen anything quite like this before.”
As the night wore on, Harry gently reminded Charlie, “You’re welcome to stay for dinner here. It’s already late, and there’s no need to go back just to cook something.” Charlie hesitated for a moment, glancing at Bella, but his face softened into a smile.
“Actually, that sounds great,” Charlie admitted, turning to Bella. “You’re in for a treat, Bella. Harry’s a fantastic cook.”
Bella’s curiosity sparked as she looked back at Harry, who smiled warmly. “I’ll do my best to make it a good welcome meal,” he said with a chuckle, rolling up his sleeves as he headed toward the kitchen.
Hermione, who had just returned after settling Teddy in bed, took Bella by the arm and led her to the sitting room. “Let’s give them some space in the kitchen and have a little girl talk,” she suggested, smiling. Bella, feeling more comfortable now, nodded, and they settled in with warm cups of tea that Kreacher had already prepared.
Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Charlie followed Harry, eager to lend a hand. “Need any help?” he asked, watching as Harry pulled out ingredients with practiced ease.
“Sure, if you want to chop some veggies, that would be great,” Harry replied, gesturing to a cutting board. As they worked, Harry couldn’t help but notice how happy Charlie seemed with Bella around.
Charlie gave Harry a grateful look. “Thanks for this, really. Bella’s never been to a place like this, and I think it’s good for her to see more of the world.”
Harry smiled, glancing over as he seasoned the food. “She seems like a wonderful kid, Charlie. I’m glad she’s here. And I’m sure she’ll find her place with us.”
Charlie nodded, looking proud. “She’s a good girl—brave, too, even though she doesn’t realize it.”
The two of them continued cooking, laughter filling the kitchen as they shared stories about their past adventures and mishaps in the kitchen. By the time dinner was ready, the air was filled with the rich aroma of spices and freshly cooked food.
Hermione and Bella returned to the dining room as Harry and Charlie brought out the dishes. Bella’s eyes lit up as she took in the spread before her: tender roast chicken, fresh salads, creamy mashed potatoes, and roasted vegetables, all presented with a touch of elegance.
After the delightful meal, Charlie and Bella thanked Harry and Hermione for their hospitality, each expressing how much they’d enjoyed the evening. Teddy, having woken up just enough to give a sleepy wave, hugged Bella and Charlie goodnight.
Charlie and Bella made their way to the truck, and Bella couldn’t help but admire the incredible transformation one more time. She smiled as she climbed into the luxurious interior, looking back at the Black family standing at the doorway. It felt like she was leaving a warm, welcoming place—one she hadn’t expected to find in her new town.
As they drove off, Bella glanced at her father, who looked happier and more at ease than she’d seen in a while. “They’re... really nice, Dad,” she said softly.
Charlie nodded, keeping his eyes on the road but smiling. “Yeah, they are. Good people.”
As the truck disappeared into the night, Harry and Hermione shared a contented smile, feeling that perhaps this was the beginning of a deeper friendship, one that would bring all of their worlds a little closer together.
Harry and Hermione set out for their training session early, leaving Teddy in the capable care of Dobby and Winky, Harry’s loyal house-elves. Teddy, too young to join the rigorous training, waved goodbye to them, already entertained by Dobby and Winky, who promised to make the day fun for him with magical games, stories, and his favorite treats.
At the training grounds, Harry and Hermione focused on their magical and physical skills without distraction. They began with spellcasting drills, exchanging hexes, jinxes, and shield charms at rapid speed, honing their reactions and refining their teamwork. They moved seamlessly from one spell to the next, each testing the other's weaknesses and reinforcing their strengths.
With spells mastered for the day, they switched to physical training. Harry’s hybrid combat style, blending martial arts with magic, proved challenging even for Hermione, who was skilled in precision and strategy. They practiced hand-to-hand combat, agility drills, and endurance exercises, training their bodies as much as their magic. The rigorous session left them both exhausted but sharper, prepared for the increasing number of vampires appearing in the area.
Meanwhile, back at the Black Mansion, Dobby and Winky had prepared a day filled with activities for Teddy. They conjured up a small obstacle course, enchanted his toys to move and play with him, and even baked magical treats that popped and sparkled with each bite. Teddy laughed and enjoyed every moment, oblivious to the challenges his guardians were preparing to face.
After a long day of training, Harry and Hermione returned, tired but content, to find Teddy happily regaling Dobby and Winky with stories of his adventures around the house. Their day had been productive, and they were reassured knowing Teddy was well cared for and entertained.
Dobby and Winky were the dedicated caretakers of all Black family properties scattered across the world, each hidden and fortified with powerful magical protections. They diligently maintained these properties, ensuring everything was in pristine condition and secure from unwanted intruders. However, the Black Mansion in Forks was a unique case. Unlike the other properties, it was often filled with Muggle visitors—friends, business contacts, and Teddy's playmates from the local community—making it a challenging space for Dobby and Winky to move around freely without risking exposure.
Due to these constant visitors, Dobby and Winky only came to the Forks mansion when Harry explicitly summoned them, mindful of the need to stay hidden from the Muggles. They took care to operate discreetly, slipping in only when absolutely necessary to provide their services, then returning to the safety and seclusion of the other Black estates. Despite the restrictions, they were always prepared and ready to attend to Harry, Hermione, and Teddy whenever called, showing an unshakeable loyalty to the Black family.
This arrangement worked well for them, keeping the Muggle world unaware of the magic woven into the Black family's lives, while Dobby and Winky efficiently managed the rest of the estates with unparalleled dedication.
When Dobby gave Harry the elegant, hand-lettered invitation to Neville Longbottom and Hannah Abbott's wedding, a smile broke across his face. Being chosen as Neville's best man was an honor that meant a lot to him. The Black family now had a reason to return to England, and the excitement was palpable among them all. This would not only be a chance for Harry to reunite with his friends from the Wizarding World as well as Muggle World.
The preparations began almost immediately. Knowing the importance of leaving his affairs in good hands, Harry met with Billy Black in Forks, who assured him that he would oversee everything while Harry was abroad. Billy, who had proven to be a trustworthy friend and manager, would ensure that the businesses and the mansion in Forks ran smoothly during the family’s trip.
Next, Harry made his way to Seattle to secure an international Portkey. He’d need a reliable and discreet way to travel back to England without raising any attention. As he handled the formalities, he felt a rush of anticipation at the thought of returning to his homeland, not just for the wedding but to reconnect with the world he’d left behind.
The familiar English countryside welcomed the Potters as they returned home, their identities as the Black family left behind in America. Here in England, where the Potter name was tied to heroism and sacrifice, it was safe—and even comforting—for Harry and Hermione to be known as the Potters once more. After landing, they gathered their belongings and made their way to Andromeda Tonks' cottage.
This was their first stop—a visit that felt long overdue. Andromeda had endured profound sorrow after the war, having lost her daughter, Nymphadora, and her husband, Ted. For a time, the weight of her grief had been nearly unbearable, but she’d found a steadfast supporter in Harry. Over the years, Harry had stood by her side, sharing her pain, offering her comfort, and eventually sharing the responsibility of raising Teddy. When Teddy’s lycanthropy became apparent, Andromeda didn’t hesitate; she turned to Harry, knowing he had both the experience and the heart to understand what Teddy needed.
As they arrived at the warm, sunlit cottage, memories of their shared past rushed back to Harry. He remembered the countless visits with a young Teddy, the shared dinners and tea times, and Andromeda’s quiet resilience. Today, however, they were greeted not only by Andromeda but also by her sister, Narcissa Malfoy. Since the end of the war, the two sisters had reconciled, healing wounds from years of family rift and embracing each other with a shared understanding of loss and survival. Narcissa had surprised many by reaching out to Andromeda, and they’d gradually rebuilt their relationship in the aftermath of the trauma they both endured.
As they entered, Andromeda pulled Harry and Hermione into a heartfelt embrace, her gaze lingering on Teddy with pride and affection. For her, seeing Teddy happy, healthy, and loved brought a profound sense of fulfillment. Andromeda had often expressed that she saw Harry as more than a guardian to Teddy—he was like a son she had gained amidst all she had lost. Teddy himself greeted his grandmother with a mix of excitement and affection, and he quickly settled into her familiar arms as though no time had passed.
Narcissa, once the epitome of pureblood pride, had softened considerably. She greeted them with a quiet smile, nodding respectfully to Harry and Hermione, and even gently tousled Teddy’s hair. Though Narcissa had once been bound to values that stood against everything Harry fought for, her loyalty to family had transformed her. Andromeda and Narcissa together had redefined what family meant to them, and Harry respected Narcissa's efforts to become a part of her nephew’s life. In fact, Teddy had formed a connection with Narcissa, and he often drew her out with his innocent questions and open heart.
As they settled in, Andromeda served tea and scones, a simple but comforting tradition that felt like home. They all gathered around the small kitchen table, sharing stories and laughter, the years of hardship feeling softened by the warmth in the room. Andromeda looked at Harry with pride, aware of all he had done for her and for Teddy, and she knew without a doubt that Teddy was in the best hands possible. Harry had become the father figure Teddy needed, offering him love, guidance, and understanding.
The conversation shifted between fond memories and recent updates, filling the room with warmth. Andromeda listened as Harry talked about their life in America, their new friends, and Teddy’s adventures, her eyes twinkling as she laughed along. Narcissa remained quiet but observant, her expressions softened, a small smile gracing her lips whenever Teddy chattered animatedly.
After the tea, Narcissa took Teddy to the garden, where he excitedly showed her his favorite spells and transformations. Andromeda watched them from the window, a peaceful smile on her face, knowing her grandson was truly loved by both sides of his family. Harry and Hermione stayed by her side, sharing quiet moments and heartfelt gratitude, thankful for Andromeda's strength and presence in their lives.
Before they left, Andromeda held Teddy close, whispering loving words and reminders of how proud she was of him. Harry hugged her tightly, knowing how much she meant to him and Teddy. For Andromeda, the visit wasn’t just a reunion—it was a reminder that despite everything they had endured, they still had each other. The bonds they’d formed through loss and love had created a family built on resilience and hope, a family that, though changed by war, stood strong together.
