Or lack thereof!

So jumped into Blender with the classic doughnut tutorial. Would say I spent a good 10 hours following a step by step guide and paying close attention but ultimately got stuck on the last steps and could not get the project complete!
Was a little annoying but these things happen. There is no way I could find where I messed up unless I went back through the whole thing and tried from scratch which I felt I have to do as I got to about the 5 hour mark and started forgetting the basics I had learned at the start.

This was my sad looking end result.

As you can see the sprinkles did no get coloured, textured or added variation coz I sucked with the nodes system.

Perhaps if there was more interest in 3D art I would get right back on this and make sure I fixed it in a 2nd attempt, but this whole ordeal has left me a bit deflated even if I have a new appreciation for those that can use 3d software.

Instead I will be looking into the 2D animation tool it has to see how that works instead (Hopefully its a bit more user friendly then that OpenToonz I tried before).

In better news, I have made some descent progress with the final 2 gift art pics so expect to see those very soon, and here is a sneak peak of the next big exclusive!

Perhaps I will try my paw at 3d modelling again in the future but for now I have 2D art that requires my full attention once again.

It’s still a very good attempt, I’m excited to see your style in 2D, can’t wait to see those cute paws wiggling :3

Aw. Completely understandable. In my own numerous attempts to use Blender for things, I’ve come to realization that the UI really isn’t very… how do I say this nicely? It’s rather bland and bemusing. For people just trying to understand the basics, the learning curve can be overwhelming. It’s all good. Very much looking forward to seeing what you do with 2D. ^w^

Having the middle mouse click for navigation just feels like a middle finger to anyone whos built up the muscle memory of literally any art program before. As down as I sound about this I'm not giving up with it though. lots still to explore and experiment with. I will make a proper doughnut one day but I just need to make sure I stay on top of my current work schedule for right now.

I think I never did anything without the first attempt being a mess. The joy of learning^^ Is OpenToonz that unfriendly? Only looked briefly into it. Same with blender. The enthusiasm will surely return.

I could not get Open Toonz to do some very simple tasks without taking a deep dive into things and its quite unintuitive. Its also wasn't very well supported when I looked into it way back when I did my Rush animation. Simply navigating 3d space in Blender feels like a chore along with other things but Im too new to it to see if there is a method to their madness. I will get back to it but Ive had an avalanche of things to deal with this month that keeps snowballing and I need to get through it before I consider newer projects.

That's a good looking doughnut! Better than what mine was lol. Keep up the good work!
