Back from my vacation!

Haven't made too much progress during my time-off, I'm afraid, but here's a small update showing off two new things: Unity's lens flare effects (finally) and munching on cars that don't go down in one bite!

Lens Flares

Unity's "new" render pipeline has started supporting lens flares, last year, but due to a bug on their end I haven't been able to use them in my project... until now!

They haven't fixed the bug yet, of course, but another game developer has done it for them: And because Unity actually provides the source code for their render pipeline stuff, I could modify it locally on my machine and reproduce that fix. So, now I don't have to wait until Unity actually releases a fixed version, themselves.

It's silly, but I was excited for this feature; finally, I can use this state-of-the-art 1998 video game visual effect!

Munch, Munch

Also still working on the eating mechanic: When you're dealing with a relatively large object, you take a bunch of bites out of it first, before it's gone.

I'm using my standard mesh deformation system to give the cars a dent, with each bite: It's not quite the same as actual bite marks (which would be a lot more involved to implement, technically), but I think it gives a pretty good idea!

Overall, this feature still needs a bunch of improvements and polishing – I feel like it's not quite up to par yet, visually, but I'll try my best! (Though, if it doesn't get much better than this, I'll totally settle for "good enough", heh.)

As for gameplay, I'm currently thinking about implementing something like a stamina system: In which case eating cars would boost stamina, i.e. to give enough energy for more stomp attacks. That's something I'm going to prototype, some time after I'm done with the polishing!

That's it for now, and thanks for your support!
