Hello all,

I'm rethinking about the comics tier ($20 and $30). For each 4 panel, I spend 2 hours minimum and for the full page (9 panel) I spend at least 5-6 hrs minimum. Usually each weekend the comics would take half a day to make and I get kind of tired at the end. I like drawing them, but I spend too much time for them before I could move on to the next one. Plus I make themed pic sets every month. I am not sure if I can finish monthly stuff on time now.  Right now I have a few choices:

A - Keep the comic tier but stop making pic sets

B - Remove the comic tier and replace it into a multiple character or multiple pic tier (i.e. like the $10 tier but you can ask for 2 and 3 pics)

C - Decrease the number of panels (from 4 to 3 in $20 tier, from 9 to 6 in $30 tier)

D - Limit the number of characters in the comics to one (1), because multiple characters double the work time for each panel

E - No change (but the rewards are late each month, if you don't mind my slow speed or possible drop in quality)

What do you think? Please comment below.

I think C is the best option.

my vote is also for option C. If you don't make a change and continue to exhaust yourself trying to make deadlines, i worry that your enthusiasm may start to drop, and that's not good for anyone.

That's true. Burnouts might happen. I've been drawing warmups or quickys to keep that at bay...for now

I think either B or C, and/or limiting the number of reward slots so that you don't end up having to do even more in the future. (If someone new wants to join of the comic tiers, they have to wait for someone else to leave first.)

I think B, C, and D are all reasonable (though you should go with whatever option feels best for you). Maybe you can go with a combination of them? For example, if someone wants a comic with multiple characters, then reduce the amount of panels in it. Maybe a rule like for every additional character in a panel, you reduce the number of panels by one?

B and C sound like the best options to me. I think E is the worst option, you sound like you might be headed towards burnout, so not changing anything sounds like a bad idea to me.

From a business perspective, A would be the best choice as the comic tiers are big money makers where the pic sets are fun but free themed sets. From a more comfortable perspective C or E would make a better choice to reduce the time on harder tasks and goals. Whatever your choice may be, we want what’s best for you and for you to be happy with your talents. To use them joyfully and not be overwhelmed or burdened by them.

Thank you for your input. Yes, having fun is much better than being burdened. I'm really thinking about axing the pic sets because I only made that because everyone else was doing it (and I wanted the $1 to not feel left out)

Honestly, C or D feel fine to me. Any way to reduce your work to what feels manageable for you should work good

While I don't below to the comic tier, I have certain interests in it - practical ones, as comics present a lot of inspirational content and interesting ideas. And a theoretical ones - I hope to join it one day to see my own ideas drawn this way. So I kind of want it to stay the way it is. But since the changes are most likely inevitable in the upcoming months, I think option C is the least painful option for those already in the tier or planning to join it. Note that my opinion is purely from the business point of view. From a human point of you, I'll understand any decision you take to keep yourself inspired and in good shape to stay as a great artist who I adore.

Yeah, good insight. It's the tiredness and the lateness which is making me rethink. Monthly stuff delayed...might not look good as a creator
