The last pilot, Rosenthal, flew the SH!T out of that plane to get him and his crew back to base. Dude was a ninja with that plane.

The tone set it at the end of a rough weekend. They kind of touched on it one guy saying "flying every day now". The previous episode where Buck was lost was friday. Saturday between the episodes they flew another to Mannheim I believe. Them in this episode was it was Sunday. Their exhaustion from that kind of a grind was palpable. I'm probably alone in this opinion for the most part but I find the handling of Buck to be rather spectacular. Most of us are of mind they can't do that to a main character/star actor but put it in their shoes. Their symbolic leader, there one day, gone the next. And they made the audience feel that.
