IS ANYONE GONNA LIVE?! Omg if I didn’t know about the movie, I’d think everyone was gonna die! 🥲 Uhtred cries I cry, but Sigtryggyr was very emotive and was heartbreaking scene. Untred’s daughter, is she gonna be the next Brida? She wouldn’t join her would she?! Brida is now all of a sudden gonna try and lead the people she just attacked? The daughter with Athelstan was sweet. They like bro and sis. Uhtred saving him😍, but so proud he fights so well! Does he know his uncle is dead? Osferth. I’m so glad they finally addressed Osferth to Edward. I’m rambling. That was insane. Stomach knots.

Ashley

Ps I guess Uhtred does have another son. Season three nor four never mentioned him, after Gisela died. I thought they’d created a plot hole! Someone told me they remixed it from the book. I guess he was never set aside. Still weird didn’t mention him. Like House of the Dragon putting a child in the opening credits and never mentioning it dialog. So odd. Can’t wait for the next ep! I’ll be good and not watch ahead!

We have not yet recovered from losing Osferth and now we have lost Sigttrygr all because of Aethelheim and his schemes Now he plans to join king Constantine who is king of the Scott’s and they do not like the Saxons..Seems like we are now heading to Northumbria since King Constantine Has allied with the Northern Lords …

First Osferth, now Sigtryggr! 😭 This show just goes straight for the gut 💔

"There are only three of us, Lord." My heart broke again. Such a stressful episode. I kept thinking, Hard.."please stop," throughout the whole battle. I liked Sigtryggr since the first time he was in the room with Stiorra. Rognvaldr gets to live. Unacceptable. RIP Sigtryggr. Brida is always looking for an excuse. She's the worst kind of Dane. And Sigtryggr was the best at it. Hey! A new word. Pronounciate. I like it! LOL!

Funny to think that this ‘dream of England’ changed the world. After all, here we are all speaking and writing in English.

I literally wish I could go to sleep and wake up just before you upload the next episode. No spoilers but it's a banger!!!! I'll be interested to see where you rate this show at the end. I was always GOT number 1, but this in its own way is IMO equally brilliant. PLEASE let it be Sunday 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Melanie Vine

Yeap, I'm not sure if you're watching along, or have already watched it but buckle up, the second half of this season is even wilder than the first. This is such an incredible show, and Massively underrated!

Melanie Vine

Yeap, and the episode before, Aethalflaed. Not sure if you've seen the next episode so I'll shut up, but this show keeps delivering brilliance!

Nancy Peterson

They did mention the other son in season 3 (possibly season 4 too-cannot recall). Gisela died in childbirth.

Ashley

Yes, as you see I mentioned him not being referenced once Geisla dies. We see him and Uhtred walked passed. No, was not mentioned until s5, per my memory and looking it up. And old showrunner was interviewed about it. Fans were under belief he was cut. Glad he was not!

As annoying as Edward's actions are, I think in this situation Alfred would have done the same. Propose peace only if their leader gets baptized. He actually asked for this in the past. But still, Edward seems to do one good thing and another 3 bad ones. At least from our perspective/ Uhtred's. I think in this show is not so easy to say who is the "bad" guy and who is right or wrong. Edward tries to realize his father's dream. Uhtred really wants danes and saxons to live together. Constantin sees Edward is expanding and wants to be ready if he gets attacked or even strike first before Edwards decides he wants Scotland as well.

Personally I put The last kingdom, Breaking Bad and Better call Saul as best shows in my opinion because the writing was consistent from begining to finish. And such great writing + cinematography, great actors etc. As well as the first 4 seasons of Got (and parts of seasons 5,6). The last 2 seasons also got great moments, but some very rushed storylines. In TLK time passes very fast as well, but they did it right.

I watched this show when it dropped and I'm rewatching it with y'all 🤗 One of my favourite shows ever and so pleased it's getting the love it deserves 🥰

Darrell Neely

I think he was mainly left him out of the show as part of Uhtred not showing his age. In the books the youngest son is a real warrior and takes on all the daring , risky roles as Uhtred ages into his 50s.

Darrell Neely

wellll.. are we really ? Considering in the end the ' Danes' essentially win in the long run. First Canute and then this fellow named William the Conqueror, the Norman ( Northman) descendent of Rollo

Ashley

Thank you Darrell! I have not read the books. Only learned snippets from readers, when I started asking about the baby plot hole. Also because young Uhtred is not anything like Uhtred or his mom. Athelstan seems to play a son role. Thought maybe that was being substituted for the baby.

KA

England was part of Cnuts empire for a while. William the Conqueror though effectively ended the Anglo Saxon dynasty. Throughout all this though, the name England remains still to this day.

Jamie

Sigtryggr was my favourite character. I was so mad and gutted at his ending. I loved him with Stiorra. It was so sad that his downfall was his attachments to people which he swore never to have last season and a manipulation of the worst kind of scumbag. 😭
