Brida has always been cruel & vicious. But she has really stepped it up. I have so much I want to say, but it's way too much. All I'll say is this was an awesome episode. But, so damn frick'n sad.

Sigtryggyr always says how he needs a reason/motive to fight, so right now him and Uhtred are probably seeing red. The last thing I'd want is a pissed off Uhtred and Sigtryggyr coming for me. But honestly you guys are in for a rideeee this season is top tier television.

Athelstan…you can tell who RAISED him! First move was LOYALTY. I got teary Uhtred cupping his face, worried for him as a SON. Uhtred has been His father and the boys his uncles! So emotional. Seeing Sygtriggyr’s hair cut. He is a modern leader who rules with tolerance of all people. Not the “old men” of before. And Brida is trying to bring it back. Wrenching! Breast cancer too is so hard to watch in Athelflead. 🥲🥲🥲

Man, Season 5 is so good so far. Talk about a banger of a start to a final season. Sigtryggr screaming that his wife will not die trapped like a rat & that he’s conquered everything for her… WOW!!! 😍 I love the Uhtred & Sigtryggr team up, both of have smarts & strategic minds but I’m so enraged the alliance never protects them, always Wessex.

"My wife will not die trapped like a rat" 😢 Sygtriggers performance this episode gave me goosebumps! I don't get the reasoning that she shouldn't tell Uhtred because he is already heartbroken by the betrayal and with what happened to his son 🥺 Another great reaction guys! 🤗🥰

Mercia will fall apart the minute they find out AEthalflaed is dying. I see your point with regards to Uhtred getting no support but maybe you'll feel diffently at the end of the episode four.

the same old shit...Uhtred getting no support seems to just be a lack of creativity with the screenwriters. They seem to instist on deviating more and more from the books in seasons 4 and 5 and revert to standard TV tropes. It's still great entertainment and I love the series as much as the books, but the Books do a much better job of Uhtred and his crew having their own household troops/warbands. Osferth is actually one of Aethelflaed's commanders and Sihtric commands Dunholm.
