We watch The Last of Us on HBO Max. 

This is a watch-a-long so you do need to bring your own copy of the episode to see it, there is no PIP. There are a few visual cues and a timer to help you sync up

Finally found time to watch this and chose to watch it with you guys. Wow Nikki this was so hard on you it made me feel bad for you. I wonder why they just didnt take that truck along with the machine gun there at the end.

What an outstanding episode. Not only did they capture the feel of the game but the entire episode was like playing the game for the first time again. To me at least. The acting is phenomenal but Bella Ramsey is already killing it at Ellie. The editing, cinematography, music, everything is just perfect and you can feel not see but feel the love that went into this project. Looking forward to more. And can we just talk about the sound design?????

Not playing the game means I had no expectations coming into this but holy hell this was so good. The ANXIETY I felt during the scene in the car when they were trying to get through the town. OMG. This whole episodes cinematography was amazing.

I'm not a gamer, but I've seen some of this storyline. I don't remember much, except the beginning. I'm sure some of it will come back, but there's a point in the storyline that it'll all be fresh. The way HBO did this, was beyond my expectations. Fantastic. I was trying to think of where I might have seen the actress who plays Tess. and looked thru her profile. Didn't see anything I would have recognized her from, so I'm thinking that she just reminds me of Cate Blanchett (having just watched TLOTR recently. lol

Being a mom this first episode was so hard to watch 😭 started watching this show because of Pedro Pascal and now I'm hooked! Hope Steven gave Nikki a hug after this ❤ P.S. I've not played the game and will watch your gameplay vids when the show wraps because I don't want to spoil it for myself 😂🥰

It’s actually facts. Almost all content creators were ripping it to shreds and beyond the woke agenda they pushed what they did to certain main characters everyone fell in love with was a huge travesty. The metacritic score by players also tear it to shreds. It’s a bad continuation of the story and expect when non players actually watch when the show hits the second game a lot of people are going to drop it as well.

It’s absolutely not a fact. It’s literally impossible to say ALL liked or disliked something. It’s not hard to find people who liked the 2nd game more than the first.

I would say it’s extremely hard to find people who liked the second game more than the first and you know that’s true. The game play itself might have been graphically better with newer player abilities but the story was horrible and that is what everyone agreed on. You took the dynamic of what made the first game amazing.. the father and daughter relationship between Joel and Ellie which everyone overwhelmingly loved. Then took the second game, subverted expectations like the end of Game of Thrones and torched your main characters “trying to avoid spoilers’ and made a character nobody wanted to play a main character. Everyone during the release was pissed off and I know because I played it and also watched dozens of main gaming streamers tear it to shred for its story. It is not widely known in any capacity to being as good as the first game. Anyways that’s my 0.02 on it. You can disagree with me but the main player base of those games agree with me. We will see what HBO does with this show.

that's funny because I did a long ass video breaking down how I liked the second game more than the first so no, not ALL gamers hated the second game. The story took a huge risk and it absolutely worked for me. The story was leaked ahead of time and people hated it before even playing it. The world doesn't work in such an absolute kind of way... when it comes to shows, movies or games, there will never been a 100% in one way or the other. Many sites gave it very high scores and on a list of awesome games that have won game of the year. Regardless if it's better than the first, it's a really great game.

I’m glad you liked it more than the first but I know I hated what they did to the story as did a majority of reviewers. You can YouTube The Last of Us 2 review and people just ravage it across the board. I’m hoping the TV show changes it up a little bit and focuses more on Ellie during that time but we will have to see what they do with the story. They changed a few things just in episode 1 itself so Im curious what they do with the first game story. Im a huge fan of the first game and have played it multiple times in their upgraded iterations and DLC. I was not a fan of the risk they took and was not a continuation of The Last of Us I wanted to see. This is coming from a person who felt The Last of Us “first game” was a masterpiece of storytelling and gaming combined.

The only reason I jumped in was the idea that it was "huge disappointment to all gamers who loved the first game" and just pointing out that's not true. Hate it all you want. Let all those creators hate it too. Bottom line is there are tons of people who loved it, I know many who do that don't make videos on the internet... It's hard to use "content creators" to truly gage the pulse of the fanbase.
