This series has been one of my favorite reactions to date. As a former Marine myself, I've been waiting for yall to do this as I'm partial to this series overBoB just a little. I LOVE BoB as well, but when you go through Marine Corps boot camp you are also taught, HEAVILY, about the Corps history. Our history is of extreme importance to the Marine Corps, I'd venture to say more than any other branch. It is engrained in you from the moment you step foot on the yellow footprints and it doesnt stop. Thats where the pride, and somewhat arrogance, comes from. I'm sure Stevens Dad can attest to this and probably has already lol. The Pacific theater was just plain terrifying, the Japanese soldier didnt know the word surrender, you had to kill every last one of them. Those men who faught on those tiny islands were some of the best men this country has and will ever produce. Thank God for those men. Thanks for this reaction, Nikki and Steven!

Can't help but get emotional seeing what these men went through. Thank you guys for this reaction! The next episode is even tougher...

Semper from a former Corps sniper’s wife, Hathcock. And yes I’m partial to this one for the same reason.

I get angry watching because it was a poorly planned FUCK FEST. Tens of thousands more lives lost vs Japs than in war against Hitler. Fucking blood bath. So it’s good Pacific focuses on POV of only the three characters. You see a more personal account. Home life and mental response. And sadly the Marine who died while having a traumatic break, happens more than people realize. I have had the stories told first-hand. They were able to subdue and save 15 marines by choking him out I believe. I don’t know what happened to him, but he lost it in a house in Iraq and insurgents started flooding in due to him. It was also a fuck fest. Sad. The choices leaders have to make in those scenarios, weighs very heavy on the decision makers. Haunts you for life. Even if you had no choice.

500 caves, connecting to each other! 500!!! And they have to go thru it, to get to the airfield they want. And this island is just a stop-point. My stress comes thru my stomach, and I feel sick. No wonder it took me so long to watch this again. How did these Marines do it? The Few; The Proud; The Marines.

My Daddy was SignalCorps in the Army running comms for those men in the Pacific arena. Stress of war abbreviated his life--U could see it. I was little and long ago but there was never a kinder, patient, suaver, sadder or more honorable man for this Daddy's girl. Will be the 40th anniv. of his death on my birthday this year. The paddleboat spray on our faces when i was 7,making mule sounds in my ear that tickled, and getting to wear his Omega on Easter Island so many years later.Didn't need birthdays to remind me of the end when not a day goes by when I'm not touched by the gift of him in-between.
