Aethelwold is the perfect court jester until he turns full on Loki. It's sad he never learned from his experiences with Guthrum when he took Winchester and all the years since. He's not King material and never has been but he can't let it go.

I was so certain that Aethelwold would fail in trying to kill Ragnar, but the uncertainty this show has is what makes it so amazing. I was in complete shock when he actually killed him.

The ending of the previous episode is so heartbreaking knowing that those are Uhtred and Ragnar's last moments together. And the way that he was killed by that conniving coward just makes it so much worse!

Even though I was frustrated with Ragnar and Uhtred's last interaction, Ragnar was still one of my favourite characters. I was so rattled not just by his death, but by the manner of his death. I was never a fan of Aethelwold but after this episode I was DONE with him.

Great reaction! Me too. I was ENRAGED and STUNNED. I knew when he faked being drunk this was about to go down and was sense of doom. Like you want to yell at the TV. Loved him, so it is 😭 to rewatch his last scene with Uhtred. Chokes me up. A Little detail I love about this ep, is how Osferth, mentions his sister when worried about a fight. Reminding us that he is Alfred’s son, but I don’t know if Aethelflead knows Baby Monk is her brother. But Little details like that make the craft of this show about flawless. It may not be as pop culture as Vikings, but TLK has a huge passionate fanbase. And enduring, because Vikings fell off towards the end for many people, where TLK doesn’t ….. 💗👌

I told you guys on youtube that I think this is the best season of the show. Season 1 and season 3 are even for me, and I lean towards 3. Great 4 episodes to start the season and it stays strong all the way throughout.
