This episode always leaves me feeling sick to my stomach.

So tense, my gosh! Breaks my heart. Rangar 💔uhtred. But yeah I’ve loved how the Devil on one side (Skade) and Angel on the other (Leofric) is done. He’s the internal monologue and conscience of everything Wessex and I think just in righteousness as a whole. All the emotions and I love Thyra so much. Can’t wait for the next several episodes!!!

The last 15 mins of this episode was so intense to watch the first time around and even now. Hearing those words from Ragnar about how Uhtred is no longer his brother hit me so deep. He is literally getting pulled in so many directions and it is literally impossible to please everybody. Also that last line by Brida saying, "You're a whore to the crown of Alfred" was put rudely but so true. It's like Alfred's got an Uhtred Magnet attached to him and Uhtred just always gravitates towards it. It's such a love hate relationship and I love it. Saxon Distraction FTW hahaha

I have a feeling by the end of the next episode.. Nikki and Steven are going to be like “WTF???!!!” Season 3 is amazing stuff!

Pretty sure Alfred knows all about Osferth. Royals & nobility throwing their bastard children into monasteries/nunneries was common in actual history. They'd get favor from the church for committing lives to religious service and it was a convenient way to get rid of embarrassing "problems". A son taking holy orders is far less likely (and disqualified) from pursuing the crown. It's not that Alfred doesn't know about Osferth; he doesn't much CARE. In his mind, his only true son is Edward. Given Alfred's insistence on religious obedience from everyone else, his abandonment of Osferth is extremely hypocritical. Uhtred's children have all been born legitimately and he has cared for them totally, yet Uhtred is the "heathen". The more I rewatch TLK the more impressed I am with Osferth's actor Ewan Mitchell's work in House of the Dragon. This actor has changed his entire physicality to become Aemond One-Eye: his posture, walk, physique, even his voice and phrasing of speech are entirely different. Talented fellow.

Great reaction guys. I love this episode and the next. You're in for a ride.

It all has a love and hate pull. Alfred and Utred. Utred and Saxon. Utred and Ragner. Utred and Danes. Just how Alfred condemns Utred for not fully committing to Saxon ways, is the same as Ragner and Brida condemning him for not going full Dane. They wld want Utred to kill Aethelflaed even if she is a friend. Last episode I knew Beoca meant when he said he kill Utred if he harmed Alfred. Utred frustration is warranted but i believe Beoca still sees a mislead saxon child. Beoca has backed up Utred soooo much with Alfred but at the end, Beoca is Saxon and is fully committed to his King & his beliefs as well. Bebanburg is a Saxon kingdom which makes it all more complicated with him being Dane. BUT ITS ALL SOOO GOOD. I LOVE THE SHOW

Rewatch the scene Nikki, several people told the monk to stfu. Saxon Distraction btw. :)

Great reaction! I think Beoca was saying he’d kill Uthred himself like if we saw our kid holding someone hostage and we tried to negotiate with the police like ‘no let me deal with him, don’t shoot —if he kills the hostage I’ll kill him myself…’ it’s more of a cry for help to have no one shot at the loved one AKA uthred for Beoca

Sometime I feel like you have the wrong idea about Uhtred, sure he loves the ladies (in the books even more so) but that doesnt sway him here. None of that king shit matters to that Skade is spitting to Uhtred. He has told the truth many times, the curse is what concerns him and what he believes in like he said to Brida, how do I kill the curse. For some reason you have this narrative since Mildred he just abandons all women or morals for another women, which I dont think is a fair case. Skade cursed him, then said essentially his love would die. That is proof enough for him. Plus he saw Isuelt's power so clearly he believes in this.
