One of the best episodes of TV the past few years imo, the ending scene is just soooo good. Also, relay to Nikki that Vecna is indeed practical(with some minor extra visual effects of course), apparently the same crew that made the Night King from GoT designed him. Apparently the actor spent something like 6 hours every time putting the make up on.

this might be the best stranger things episode there ever was. Cried like shit when Max was in the upside down. Also yes, that was the Freddie Kruger actor playing Creel!

I read 7 hours putting it on, 10-12h shooting, and then 1h getting it all taken off, that's some commitment! The only thing that was CGI'ed was apparently the movements of the the veins, everything else is said to be practical

I think Vecna is the embodiment of or a metaphor for what you said: trauma, guilt, & depression. He slowly consumes his victims the way depression does. They have headaches, get sick, have nightmares, can't sleep, become distracted. Everything takes on a darker aspect; even small interactions become painful because depression distorts the way people see the world. All the physical symptoms get worse as Vecna gets closer. Both early victims had opportunities to talk about what was wrong and didn't, because depression is isolating by nature. But remembering good times helps! Friends & talking to people are the keys to breaking free! And of course, music is invaluable to people dealing with trauma & depression. Even as Max was making a run back toward reality, she stumbled and Vecna threw obstructions at her to slow her down - just like depression does in real life. Very cool that ST shows all of this in a new way. This episode is the GOAT

Nikki, did you notice that Robert Englund was playing Victor Creel, the actor that also plays Freddy Krueger?! That alone makes this my favorite season. And yes I did watch this whole show in the dark!!

Omg ily both so much but Steven saying "the excitement for this season wasn't high" MAN more than a 3 year wait and you didn't have high hopes!!! I hardcore disagree just with that statement but I'm glad it's blowing that thought out of the water bc holy shit is this season fucking crazy and amazing!

Yes I did watch this in the dark and it doesn't help when you hear sounds time to time around you 😆. I was shocked when I saw Robert England. What better way to make a Stranger Things season that feels like Nightmare On Elm Street meet Hellraiser meets Silent Hill with Robert England added to it. I recognize the Asylum director Hatch from The Dark Knight as the person on the boat who got the detonator about to blow up the prisoners on the other boat but didn't. Maya Hawke is great. She definitely inherited her parents acting talent. She's on Stranger Things and her dad on Moon 🌙 Knight. A spoiler almost ruined what happened to Max. There's a picture post that shows Max in a trans, then a picture of a band and then shows Max's eyes back to normal. Indicating which song would snap you out of Vecna's hypnosis. I thought that spoiled it for me until Max went floating in the air, and then I realized that wasn't the whole spoiler. I was like " oh no, the music not working." This is one of those shows you don't skip the intro. Not because you're reacting, but because of the best intro music. I feel like me and Nikki are brother and sister from a different mother and father 😆. I was like "ooooh Billy" and she said the same thing 😆
