It was a pleasure to watch you guys experience one of my top 3 shows. For me its up there with Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead (seasons 1-6). My take on John Silver and his going against what Madi and Flint wanted and ending the war is that he was right. Of course, Madi and Flint couldn't know or wouldn't let themselves believe it but their war for freedom from England was never going to succeed, England being the most powerful country in the world at the time. But John Silver could see it. He could see that it was never going to end with their freedom and that eventually England would destroy the pirates completely and more importantly Madi. The way Silver was written in season 1 and what he says in season 4, you get the impression that he'd never really cared for anyone in friendship or love before his crew, Flint or Madi. Once he had those connections and understood that it could all be taken away for an ending that would see them all dead or in chains he did what he had to to stop it. Even if that meant Madi and Flint hated him for it. If you can't tell John Silver is my favorite. 😂 😂 But I've got a lot of love for Flint, Vane and Jack in that order.

Btw, I just listened to and episode of Fathoms Deep, a podcast about Black Sails, that Toby Stephens, Luke Arnold, Toby Schmidt, Zach MacGowan and others have been on. Luke Arnold said that he tried out for Charles Vane because he had the look at the time. They hired him but held off on giving him the role because they were still looking. Then they found Zach. So Luke went for Silver.
