The Wire is always one of those shows I mean to watch. Everyone I know who watched it said it was superb. Plus it’s a great cast (Brit actors Idris Elba & Dominic West, plus Wendell Pierce and that was Littlefinger too. Maybe I’ll give it a go now I have all this time indoors.

I love The Wire! It’s in my top five fave shows. . Yes you did have it in one of your polls awhile back. I think only one channel has reacted to it. Whether or not you ever react to it you should definitely watch it at some point.

Yes, that was Littlefinger! The Wire is an excellent show, for many of the reasons you picked up on. The kids will break your damn heart. It shows all sides--streets, home life, cops, politicians. It hits harder than other shows because you know it's so damn real. Watch it, even if not for a reaction. You will not be disappointed!

2023-01-22 20:17:42 Seriously not overstating it—this is THE BEST show I have ever seen or watched. Period. Even above GOT or Sopranos. So many brilliant actors in this from, yes, Littlefinger, to 3 actors from The Walking Dead (Bob, Tyreese, Fr Gabriel), to a very young Idris Elba, this show has it all. It is great from start to finish. I still have a poster hanging in our media room—OMAR COMING. (Watch the show and you’ll understand lol). Just the BEST. And yes, Nikki—you will be crying, but laughing and just shaking your head. Fun fact: THIS IS BASED ON TRUE PEOPLE AND INCIDENTS IN BALTIMORE, MD from David Simon, who wrote for the Sun-Times newspaper and was covering Drugs & Crime there. He went on to create the NBC show “Homicide: Life on the Streets”

There is a good reason why it is considered as THE BEST tv show of all times. Together with Sopranos it started the "golden era" of quality television which led to shows like Breaking Bad or Game Of Thrones. It is very worth watching. Personally I prefer Sopranos (my favourite tv show of all times) but The Wire is absolutely amazing. Also great: Every season of The Wire focuses on one specific side of the story (the school system, unions, the media, the politics and more) and therefore feels different enough to stay interesting all the time. Would be an interesting show to react to. Although you should watch it regardless.
